The full effect of New York State's Small Plastic Bottle Hospitality Law is taking effect soon. On January 1st of this year, hotels with 50+ rooms may no longer provide personal care products in plastic bottles smaller than 12 oz. Starting January 1, 2026, hotels with fewer than 50 rooms must comply. The law helps reduce single-use plastic waste. DEC helps hotels prepare on their website.

As a result of congressional gridlock, the Department of Transportation is reducing flights at major airports by up to 10%, which will only worsen the flight delays and travel disruptions caused by the shutdown. During his 14 years leading the Canal Corporation, Brian guided the Erie Canal through a milestone bicentennial period, championing community partnerships, sustainability, and access to one of America's most iconic waterways.
