Thank You Hyannis Country Garden!
During the month of June, Hyannis Country Garden (HCG) partnered with BCWC to put a spotlight on the importance of native New England plants in our Cape Cod gardens. With the support of our amazing BCWC volunteers, we had the opportunity to meet with HCG shoppers to discuss how using native plants benefits the entire ecosystem and our local waters.

In 2020, BCWC worked with landscape architect and BCWC Board Director Jack Ahern to design and install a demonstration garden in front of our Osterville office featuring native plants that are adapted to the climate and sandy soils of Cape Cod.

Association to Preserve Cape Cod (APCC)
Cyanobacteria Monitoring Program and Alerts 

Stay informed and up-to-date on cyanobacteria blooms in freshwater ponds around Cape Cod by signing up for the Association to Preserve Cape Cod’s Cyano Alert email and be notified when a potentially toxic bloom is newly detected. Check out APCC’s interactive map for the status of the ponds being sampled.
In addition, the town of Barnstable has water quality reports for pet advisories, warnings, and closures that are posted on the Barnstable Water Resources webpage.
Barnstable Clean Water Coalition (BCWC) works to restore and preserve clean water in Barnstable. With science as our foundation, BCWC utilizes four core components to accomplish our mission:
