May 28th - June 4th

We had a great time at Starbucks on Friday. It was a fun way to start a very busy couple of weeks for our students. We have had a program pause while students deal with finals, graduations, and end of year celebrations for schools. We have a lot coming up though - hope to see you at something soon!

Sunday: Senior Banquet! 6:00 - 7:30pm on the Woodhaven Patio. Everyone is invited for a dinner and photo movie to celebrate our class of 2026

Tuesday: Casitas de Esperanza! Help us serve dinner or lead games and crafts with families at Casitas. Meet us there or request a spot in the carpool!

Senior Banquet!

Sunday May 31st,

6:00 - 7:30pm* at WGUMC (1420 Newport Ave)

Join us for a catered dinner as we celebrate the class of 2026! We will have a photo slideshow of their time in youth group, and spend some time hearing from our students about favorite memories of JYM, and hear any upcoming plans they may have. It will be a fun celebration for our seniors - come be a part of it!

*Note the 6pm start time - we moved back the timing of Senior Banquet. 6pm is the correct start time, despite an earlier time being listed elsewhere

JYM at Casitas de Esperanza

Tuesday June 2nd, 4:30 - 6:00pm at 801 N First Street.

Carpool from WGUMC at 4:10pm

Join us in serving dinner, playing games, and leading activities with the residents of Casitas de Esperanza. Volunteers of all ages are welcome!

Carpool Details: If you want to carpool from WGUMC at 4:10pm, you must message by 2pm on Tuesday at the latest (earlier is appreciated!). We want to make sure we have enough seats for you so remember to request your ride!

LA Service & Learning Trip

June 7th - 13th

Help make our trip possible!

115 of us are about to leave for an incredible and unique trip to Los Angeles. Students will get to volunteer at several non-profits, and learn how these organizations operate to make a difference in LA. We have a good percentage of students using scholarships for this trip, plus additional costs the JYM always covers for trips, and emergency funds because after 20+ years of summer trips, we know you can never predict what unexpected issues may pop-up!

YOU ARE INVITED to join United Women in Faith on Saturday, June 13th for a Mission u event at WGUMC from 8:30am - 4:00pm. The CA-NV Conference United Women in Faith are offering this opportunity to take part in a transformative educational program using justice-focused Biblical curricula. The curriculum is centered around A DEEP KNOWING: Experiencing Emmanuel Through Every Part of Our Lives by Linda Louise Furtado. You can order and read the book ahead of time, but you are welcome to participate without having done so.

A continental breakfast will be served in Kohlstedt Hall before we gather in the sanctuary for study and singing. Our own Earnest Little III and Gwen McElwee will be leading the music. Lunch will be served before the afternoon presentation, which will end with the sharing of Communion.

UWF District President Debbie Ow and her team, along with our local UWF unit, will be hosting this event. Please come by the kiosk at WGUMC during fellowship time on Sunday where you can check out the book and pick up a registration form. You may also go to the links below for information. Registration is $50, with scholarships, if needed, being available to WGUMC members. The registration deadline is June 1st.

Sugar Pine Summer Camp!

Sign Ups are open for an incredible week at Camp Sugar Pine in Oakhurst, CA.

When: Sunday, July 5th - Friday, July 10th

Who: Current 6th–12th graders.

Where: Camp Sugar Pine, Oakhurst, CA. Our youth group will stay together in cabins to enjoy high-energy programs, powerful worship sessions, and teaching specifically designed for students.

Cost & Financial Aid

1. Standard Rate: $600 (covers camp cost for students and transportation)

2. Sponsor Rate: $730 (Includes a contribution to help cover cabin leaders, extra food, and student supplies).

3. Scholarships: We offer $300 scholarships for those in need of financial aid. If your needs exceed this amount, please message Lisa or Kat—we are committed to never turning away a student for financial reasons!

Please pay a non-refundable deposit of $150 (or $75 if using a scholarship) by May 10th. Final camp payment is due June 7th
