Dear Friends,
We had a very productive summer here at REACH Prep with numerous events, workshops and programs that gave us many wonderful opportunities to spend time with our Scholars in meaningful ways.

REACH Prep offered SSAT bootcamp, grade specific course review and previews, as well as college application and essay-writing workshops which helped prepare our students for the upcoming school year. Opportunities with our summer partners, such as a service trip to Nicaragua or an all-girls coding program, helped REACH Prep students explore their passions. Additionally, experiences like our outdoor leadership days for middle school students offered hands on problem-solving opportunities to expand their skill sets outside of the classroom.

We began the fall season with Reach Forward: Vision for the Future, REACH Prep's Visioning Day. With the help of school partners, parents, donors, Board members, Scholars, alumni, staff and faculty, we took an integral step in our strategic planning process. The enthusiasm of our attendees provided a full day of thoughtful and insightful discussions. We are confident that the strategies discussed will guide our work to best serve our Scholars and continue to lead our organization down a path of success over the next five years. We look forward to sharing details as we solidify concrete strategic initiatives over the next few months.

Wishing you all a very successful and seamless transition back to school!
With gratitude,
Gina Lucas
Chief Executive Officer
REACH Prep's 2nd Annual College & Alumni Reunion

This summer we held our 2nd Annual College & Alumni Reunion to celebrate our most recent college graduates joining the growing alumni community of over 125 young professionals. It was a lovely night with alumni from Cohorts 7 through 15 connecting with old friends and meeting new faces across cohorts. We asked our alumni to write notes of advice for Scholars starting college this fall, and we wanted to share an example of their wisdom with you:

"You are a REACH Prep Scholar - you can do it! It's a big change in lifestyle, curriculum and study habits. Be open and excited to meeting new people, trying new things and connecting with professors. Congratulations on starting college!"
REACH Prep's Senior Dinner: Celebrating our 2017 High School Graduates

In early June, REACH Prep celebrated the graduation of our high school seniors with over 65 parents, friends, staff members and Board members in attendance. Congratulations Class of 2017! We can't wait to hear about all you accomplish and discover during your first semester of college!
Transition to High School Workshop Series

This summer REACH Prep's  Director of High School Programs , Aimee Rincon, and  Director of Middle School Programs , TJ Ramirez, led two workshops to help 8th  grade students and parents navigate the transition to high school. The first workshop provided an overview for students and parents of what to expect in high school.
Summer Opportunities: Student Experiences

Although school is out, REACH Prep Scholars are still learning and growing during their summer break. This summer, REACH Prep partnered with 21 summer organizations (10 of which were new partners this year) to provide enriching opportunities for our students. Ranging from pre-collegiate and academic programs to travel abroad and  sleep-away  camps, REACH Prep students circled the globe and broadened their horizons. These experiences will not only positively impact their new school year, but also allow them to become aware and informed global citizens. Highlights from Prep Academy Summer 2017

REACH Prep's 24th summer session of Prep Academy was held at The Greenwich Country Day School from June 26 - August 3. The faculty inspired the students in English, math, writing, technology, Latin, art, and dance. Students challenged themselves beyond the classroom in a variety of activities. They took part in both high and low ropes course events in Scalzi Park, studied physical science on the Long Island Sound with Soundwaters, learned to bowl, and competed in teams at the annual Prep Academy Field Day. In July, Prep Academy welcomed guests who took part in academic classes with their student ambassadors during two Visitor Days. The 15-month Prep Academy session ended with Commencement for Cohort 23. Please click on the link below for some of our favorite moments from Prep Academy this summer.
