Dawson comes to Minuteman from her most recent position as Deputy Superintendent of the Orange County School District in North Carolina. She has also served as a public school teacher or held administrative positions in Duluth, Minn., Boston, and Nashville. She received her Master’s in Education in 2001 from Harvard University and her Ed.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 2015.

With only a few months on the job, Alexander Perhanidis, junior Plumbing major from Arlington, sparks with delight as he describes his “co-op” work placement at Atlantic Plumbing and Heating of Brookline.
“It doesn’t feel like a job,” Perhanidis said. “When I’m doing stuff with my hands and working, it’s like you just get locked in. You start to lose time in your head. That’s how I knew I found the field I want to be in.”

Trinity Choroszej, a Class of 2022 Biotechnology student from Arlington, aspires to work in the medical field – possibly in immunology or oncology – and searched for a “co-op” job placement to match her big dreams.
She found it at the Mass. General Brigham Mucosal Immunology and Biology Research Center in Charlestown, where she works for course credit as part of Minuteman’s Cooperative Education Program for the 2021-22 year.

The annual Minuteman Hall of Fame Ceremony will be held on Friday, May 20, from 6:00-9:00 PM at Minuteman. Nominations will be accepted through Monday, April 18.
The Hall of Fame honors alumni and members of the Minuteman community -- current and former teachers, staff, coaches, and students -- who have gone above and beyond to exemplify the spirit of Minuteman.

Twenty Minuteman High School students earned medals for demonstrating their career technical skills in separate competitions with SkillsUSA and Future Farmers of America (FFA).

Superintendent Ed Bouquillon led his annual "Dr. B.'s BBQ Institute" with the Culinary Arts and Hospitality students on April 13. The institute was used to hold the annual Ryan's Wish Fundraiser in memory of Ryan Eaton, a 2014 Culinary Arts graduate. The annual Ryan's Wish event raises money for scholarships.
Each year, Dr. Bouquillon teaches the students how to properly prepare and smoke barbeque that is sold to the public through The District Restaurant. Dr. B. is retiring in June.

Nearly 30 Minuteman High School students jumped into Gloucester Harbor on Saturday, April 2, for a good cause. The Polar Plunge is organized by the Gloucester Rotary Club to raise money for the End Polio Now campaign by Rotary International. The students raised $800.

Minuteman Technical Institute (MTI), the adult learning division of Minuteman, has received $500,000 through the Senator Kenneth Donnelly Workforce Success Grant to train adults in facilities management. MTI has three business partners -- Jones Lang LaSalle, ABM Industries, and Sodexo -- to share training resources and provide career pathways.
