Join Japan-America Society of Washington DC and Hillwood Estate for a wonderful Tanabata celebration at Hillwood Gardens on July 7th from 5:30-8:00PM EDT!

Tanabata, the Japanese Star Festival, celebrates the legend of Orihime, the weaver princess, and Hikoboshi, the herder, lovers separated by the Milky Way who are allowed to meet just once a year, on the seventh day of the seventh month.
Ticket sales open soon. More information to be announced shortly.
Join Japan-America Society of Washington DC and the National Arboretum this summer for an outdoor screening of A Tale of Samurai Cooking: A True Love Story.  This is the first installment of the Sakura Samurai summer film series, a participating event of the Sakura Matsuri 2021 – Year in Bloom.

ワシントンDC日米協会は、おはなし会で7月7日水曜日に七夕まつりをオンラインで開催します。対象は2～3歳くらいのお子様ですが、乳児や3歳以上のお子様もご参加頂けます。オンラインの開催ですが、たくさんのアクティビティを先生方に用意してもらっています。浴衣＆甚平の着用大歓迎！
七夕とは、織姫（おりひめ）さまと彦星（ひこぼし）さまが天の川を渡って、1年に1度だけ出会える7月7日の夜のこと。 短冊に願い事を書いて、笹竹に飾り付けます。 「雨が降ると天の川が渡れない」ともいわれて、てるてる坊主をつるした人も多いのでは。
ご興味がありましたらぜひ七夕の日に短冊に願いを書いて、ご参加ください。

Japanese Calligraphy - 6 Class Course
Practice the elegant and ancient art of Japanese calligraphy over five sessions leas by Ms. Satomi China, head of the Japan Calligraphy Washington DC West branch.

This course will cover calligraphy basics before diving into a variety of characters by theme: drinks, food, lifestyle, restaurants and businesses, and manga sounds.

Confessions, Kanae Minato
After calling off her engagement in wake of a tragic revelation, Yūko Moriguchi had nothing to live for except her only child, four-year-old Manami.

Now, following an accident on the grounds of the middle school where she teaches, Yūko has given up and tendered her resignation. But first she has one last lecture to deliver. She tells a story that upends everything her students ever thought they knew about two of their peers, and sets in motion a maniacal plot for revenge.
Narrated in alternating voices, with twists you’ll never see coming, Confessions explores the limits of punishment, despair, and tragic love, culminating in a harrowing confrontation between teacher and student that will place the occupants of an entire school in danger.
