Celebrating Success and Connection at the 2024 NSDTA Conference

Thank you to everyone who made this year’s National Staff Development and Training Association (NSDTA) Education Conference a resounding success! This year’s theme, Beyond the Horizon: Shaping the Future of Workforce Development, brought a diverse group of people to connect, learn, and engage in best practices on staff, workforce, and organizational development. Genuine connection was at the forefront of presentations, workshops, and networking opportunities, which all aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of attendees to better support individuals, families, and communities across the country.

2024 Emerging Leaders

APHSA and the Human Services Information Technology Advisory Group (HSITAG) welcomed the 2024 cohort of the Emerging Leaders Program at the ISM + PHSA Conference and Expo last month. This year's cohort, the largest yet, includes 34 junior and mid-level professionals from state and local government as well as the private sector. Participants, nominated by their leadership teams, engage in a tailored development experience with accomplished human services leaders. This experience includes private networking opportunities, curated sessions, and chances to showcase their leadership journeys. During this year's alumni luncheon, many expressed how crucial the Emerging Leaders Program has been to their professional growth. Check out this video to meet the 2024 cohort!

APHSA Participates in Convening at Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank

APHSA joined the Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank, state and federal agencies, philanthropic partners, and other human services partners in Atlanta for a convening on benefits cliffs. The group discussed opportunities to raise the issue at the state and local level, including identifying policy levers, supporting states in implementing and evaluating pilots, and strategies on how the human services sector can move this work forward. APHSA is looking forward to expanding work in this area as it builds a policy dashboard tool that will highlight policy changes states have implemented to address benefits cliffs. To learn more about benefits cliffs, you can read our 2023 publication, Navigating the SNAP Cliff (Part 2): Forging Stable Pathways from SNAP E&T to the Marketplace.
