TEACHER VACCINATIONS ARE COMING:
Yes! Teacher vaccinations are right around the corner. We are told the week of February 22nd will most likely be the week our teachers receive the first round of the vaccination with the second round following three weeks later. While we do not expect any issues with the first round of shots, we are told that the second shot may produce reactions, as it does in most people, that could last from 24 to 48 hours. Depending on when we receive the shot, St. Veronica may have to have online learning days. Next week, I will know more about the actual day and time of the vaccinations as we have a meeting on February 8 with the Clermont County SEC. As soon as I know more, I will pass it on, so planning can begin.
ED CHOICE EXPANSION APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR:
St. Veronica has been accepted as a provider for EdChoice and EdChoice Expansion Scholarships for the 2021-2022 school year. The Expansion Application System is now open and the forms are available on the EdChoice website. However, the Traditional EdChoice list and guidance materials will not be available until closer to the Traditional EdChoice System opening on March 2, 2021.
EdChoice Expansion is a financially-based scholarship that is renewable each year as long as the family remains eligible based on their income. Eligibility was recently changed to 250% of federal poverty guidelines. The EdChoice Expansion Income Guidelines document is on the Ohio Department of Education website and has been updated to reflect this change. We also have a copy of this document in the school office. If you think you might qualify for this scholarship but you are not sure, call the school office for guidance. The sooner you submit your application, the faster acceptance will happen.
Since the only part of our water fountains that are usable are the bottle filling station, it is important that each student has a water bottle at school which they can refill and drink from throughout the day. Since the beginning of the year the nurses' office has been providing disposable cups for students to get water from the water fountain but now we are asking that each student have their own water bottle with a lid that can close in case it gets knocked over. If your child doesn't have a water bottle that he/she can bring to school please make plans to send one in on Monday. Students may keep the water bottle at the school during the week and take it home on the weekends for cleaning.
