EPIC EXPLAINED

In the previous newsletter I discussed one of the prescription drug savings programs called EXTRA HELP. They also call this program the LOW INCOME SUBSIDY.

There is another prescription savings program called EPIC.

Attached is an explanation of how EPIC actually works. You qualify for EPIC prescription discount benefits if:

  • Your income is below $100,000 as a married couple or $75,000 as a single person.
  • You are age 65 or older
  • Live in NY State
  • Enrolled in a Part D (prescription drug insurance plan)

EPIC Helpline at: 1–800–332–3742

EPIC Program Highlights

HEALTH SECTION

FIND AND COMPARE Hospitals, Doctors, Nursing Homes, and Other Providers near you.

What can you search:

  • Look at a hospital's overall and patient star ratings. The overall rating is based on how well a hospital performs across different areas of quality, like treating heart attacks or safety of care. The star rating measures patient satisfaction rates based on their personal experiences.
  • Compare a hospital's performance against national averages for patient experiences, timely and effective care, complications, and more.
  • Find hospital contact information, distance from your home, and directions.

“The Medicare.gov site provides one place to start finding any type of care you need. New features include updated maps, new filters that help you identify the providers right for you, and a clean, consistent design that makes it easier to compare providers and find the information that's most important to you.”
