2024 ANNUAL MEETING

Please join us on August 15th, from 6-8pm at the West Falmouth Library. Amy Lowell, Town of Falmouth Wastewater Superintendent, will discuss plans for treated wastewater and the status of the goal of an ocean outfall. All are welcome!

PUBLIC SAFETY INITIATIVES

We are continuing to meet with town committees, boards and departments as well as State Representatives to advocate for safety in the village. One objective is to create safety zones along Chapoquoit Road and Old Dock Road which will result in 20 mph speed limits. The State of MA has performed an audit of a section of 28A through The Village as a result of our advocacy. There is currently a comprehensive audit planned from the Otis Rotary to the end of 28A just past Palmer Avenue. We will stay abreast of any and all information that becomes available as this process proceeds. Lines and Signs improvements are ongoing. Please see our website for more detail.

Village Association Board Members meet with State Representative Dylan Fernandez to discuss safety issues along 28A and the need for sidewalks!

As you may know, the West Falmouth Fire Station was at risk of closure and was frequently closed due to staffing issues. WFVA has consistently advocated for our station to be open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. On June 18th at the Select Board Meeting, Mike Renshaw (Town Manager) said emphatically and multiple times that he will not open the new Hatchville Station until ALL 6 stations can be adequately staffed. Hiring plans are progressing quicker than anticipated. The new station completion should be sometime this Fall and is coming in UNDER BUDGET. These are all positive developments.

COMMUNITY EVENTS

International Firefighter's Day is on May 4th each year. We began a new tradition to express our appreciation with a celebration, cake and lunch for our local heroes.

Pumpkin Day at Bourne Farm will be on Saturday, October 12th, 9:00AM-3:00PM.

Community Tree Lighting and Holiday Celebration in cooperation with West Falmouth Library will be Friday evening, December 6th.

On July 24, 1673, the first land owner of Colonial West Falmouth purchased 40 acres of upland at Sippewissett. What was his name and where was he from?
