Principal's Message
Hard Work vs. Talent
Ever hear your teen say, "He's so smart, math is easy for him," or "She's lucky she's good at soccer"?
Help your high schooler see that talent is only one piece of the puzzle...it's hard work and practice that makes people soar.
Encourage them to put in the time and effort to reach their own goals.
Sincerely,
Daniel P. Weishar
Principal

Thank You!
Aimee Rosen and Katherine Lloyd our Life Skills Teachers would like to take a minute to say thank you to all those who participated in the Life Skills fundraiser for schools affected by the hurricane in Houston, TX. After the news of all the terrible things happening lately in our country, it was good to spend the night enjoying a whole lot of good. Our school is amazing and I just have to say we are truly proud to be a Caveman. My heart is just so full with the love that was shown tonight. Our baseball team stayed and helped and played not only with our students but Lone Peak as well, even after having been at practice for several hours. Shawn Johnson and Jarod Ingersoll gave up the use of their field so our students could have a great night. We had a whole slew of AFHS football players stay after practice to come and cheer on their classmates. Even one of our cross country boys after finishing an 8 mile run stayed until the very last minute offering to help us clean up and take everything back in the school. Student Council saved us and Jessica Berry sat in the freezing cold taking donations so we could be with our kids! We were able to raise more than we ever hoped!
Our school and our community is amazing! Thank you for your support!

American Fork High School will be allowing students to celebrate Halloween by wearing costumes to school if they choose. As a staff, we agreed that students should be allowed to dress up and celebrate Halloween in a positive way.
We have several guidelines for parents to consider with their student when planning costumes:
· Please have your student select a costume that does not support violence.
·Toy weapons will not be allowed.
·Students will not be able to wear masks.
·No clothing displaying, representing, or suggesting illegal, vulgar or obscene behavior.
·Clothing that has low necklines, bare midriffs, or reveals undergarments are not allowed.
·All other dress code rules will apply! If you have any questions about our dress code there is a link posted in IMPORTANT INFORMATION below.
As always our focus will be on learning. With your help we will enjoy a fun and safe holiday. Thanks for your support and involvement.

PTA NEWS
AF’s PTSA has been busy this fall! We’ve met several times with Mr. Weishar to discuss and give input on issues impacting our students. We sponsored a luncheon and get-to-know-you activity for students new to AF, helped with fall pictures, provided dinner for faculty and staff on conference night, and are preparing for the upcoming PTA Reflections contest.
We’re looking ahead at ways to support the students’ Haunted Hallways and Festival of Trees activities, plus we're investigating sites for Grad Night this spring. It seems there are always activities ahead to be planned. Our friendly group would welcome volunteers willing to help with PTSA events. Interested? Contact President Charissa Little at
jamesonandcharissa@hotmail.com
.
Our PTSA stands in support of this great school. If you didn’t join PTSA at registration, we encourage parents, students and faculty to join us with your dues of $6 today. Did you know that nearly half of our member families purchase a membership for both parent and student? Did you know that a student membership provides a discount to PTSA activities like Grad Night? So, while you’re thinking about it, stop by the finance office or online at Alpine One Stop via the school’s website. Welcome to American Fork’s PTSA!
