Dear REALTORS®,
As 2021 comes to a close, I want to thank you for your investment in the North Carolina REALTORS® Political Action Committee (NC REALTORS® PAC). Your investment helped NC REALTORS® advocate to keep the real estate industry strong.
As we commemorate the association’s centennial year in 2021, we can reflect on just how powerful NC REALTORS’ voice is across our great state. There is no greater example of this strength than the commitment of North Carolina REALTORS® to investing in the NC REALTORS® Political Action Committee.
NC REALTORS® PAC has been the foundation of the association’s grassroots advocacy since its creation and with the dedication of our members has grown into the largest and most successful trade association PAC in North Carolina.
After decades of demonstrating NC REALTORS® PAC critical role in the political arena, this year, NC REALTORS® PAC experienced its most successful year by raising over 1 million dollars in investments with over 30% of North Carolina REALTORS® participating.
NCR lobbyists were actively engaged in advancing numerous high-priority bills for the 2021-2022 legislative session. All of our legislative priorities for this year have either successfully passed or advanced out of one Chamber and will be part of 2022’s advocacy efforts.
Through our wins, we showed the true power of REALTOR® engagement to elected leaders across the state. Here are just some of the achievements:
- Advocacy efforts from the NCR lobbying team and six NC Council of State members, led by efforts from Treasurer Dale Folwell, resulted in the NC eviction moratorium, Executive Order 206, ending June 30, 2021. This brought much-needed relief for NCR property managers and their landlord clients, who are mom-and-pop businesses struggling along with their tenants.
-
House Bill 489 was signed by Gov. Roy Cooper into law on Aug. 30. This bill ensures roads intended for the Department of Transportation (DOT) adoption do not end up abandoned, leaving homeowners’ safety and financial security in jeopardy. The DOT will be required to take over subdivision roads that meet the DOT’s standards for acceptance into the state road maintenance system within 90 days of a request.
-
NCR lobbyists successfully worked to ensure priority items were included in the state budget. View the NCR State Budget Priorities.
NC REALTORS® PAC is fortunate to have dedicated REALTOR® investors like you. I would like to personally thank you for your commitment to our industry. NC REALTORS® PAC would not be able to accomplish our numerous legislative victories without your continued support.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season and a healthy and prosperous new year. May 2021 bring success to you and the real estate industry!
Thank You Again,
Lisa York,
2021 NC REALTORS® PAC Chair
