Thank you to every individual and business Hope Provider who sponsors a day at Still Waters. We are grateful for your partnership and financial support. There's no doubt about it... Still Waters cannot exist without God's grace, faithful prayers and financial gifts from friends like YOU.
What a year, right??! Who would have thought in six short months, we would encounter major historical events such as the acquittal of President Trump in an impeachment trial, the death of NBA legend Kobe Bryant, pandemic, protests, riots, and a nation greatly divided on so many levels / issues.

Even though it's a challenging time in history, what an exciting time it is for the body of Christ. The world needs HOPE and there is no greater time than now for us to rise up and not only be light and salt, but also the hands and feet of Jesus.

At Still Waters, we are determined now more than ever to step it up and reach/serve as many as we possibly can. Our mission hasn't changed, but we have adjusted our lens (per se) in order to make it crystal clear what we are doing.

Offering Hope. Providing Help. Breaking the Cycle.

By Offering Hope, we offer the HOPE that is only found in Jesus Christ. He is our Source. Without Him, we are nothing.

By Providing Help, we provide FREE services during times of crisis and need: Pregnancy Tests, Vouchers for free Ultrasounds, Vouchers for free STD Testing, Options Education, Material Assistance, Parenting Classes, Post-Abortion Recovery, and Sexual Abuse Recovery.

By Breaking the Cycle, we help our clients learn the root of their unhealthy life choices and teach them a new way to think and live. Their life and their child's life not only changes, but also future generations.

Great things are happening at Still Waters and we could not exist without God's grace, faithful prayers and financial gifts from friends like YOU. If you are a ministry partner, thank YOU! Without YOU, we could not serve Kaufman County in the capacity that we do.

If you are not a ministry partner, please join us! God is present and working at Still Waters. The more the body of Christ can come together and serve those God puts in our path, the more work can be accomplished for His Name, Glory and Kingdom.
An Appreciation Reception

In January, we were blessed to be able to host an Appreciation Reception in honor of Melissa Killen. Melissa is one of the four Co-founders of Still Waters and served as our Client Services Director.

As we planned for a day to honor her, we thought it would be fun to invite all past/current Board of Directors, past/current Staff members, current volunteers as well as clients. It was a special time of reflection and celebration with Melissa and her family.

As the reception wrapped up, Melissa was presented a statue of The Good Shepherd by Ketra Hancock. Executive Director and another Co-founder of Still Waters. Many tears were shed as they not only laughed and cried together, but also looked at the statue together, remembering the day the Lord gave them the name Still Waters from Psalm 23. It was an emotional moment.

We are beyond grateful for Melissa and the fingerprints she has left on Still Waters. She will be dearly missed, but we are equally excited for her and her new life chapter in Stephenville, Texas. There is no doubt in our minds, God has a good plan for her there, too.

Thank you, sweet Melissa, for your love and dedication to Still Waters.
A Big Thank You!

We have been BEYOND blessed by the out pour of support received from area churches and ministry partners, especially during Shelter In-Place. So many generously gave diapers and wet wipes. We also received a no-contact thermometer by our sweet friend, Kayla Westbrook, to use for screening all who enter the center.

We would like to give a special shout out to Country Bible Church and Kaufman's Church of Christ for making us a new sign for our entrance. It's FANTASTIC!! We are so blessed that they chose to serve us in such a special way.

Thank you to Rob Hancock who hung the sign for us. He is always available to help whenever needed and we are thankful for him. A special thank you to Bethany at 2.3 Graphics who did an amazing job making the sign.

Additional shout outs of appreciation goes to our sweet ministry friends for their incredible support during this time:

  • Delta Kapp Gamma (Alpha Tau Chapter)
  • First Baptist Church of Terrell
  • Willing Workers Class at FBC Sunnyvale
  • ... and many other individual ministry friends - you know who you are!
Even though our programs didn't end the way we had planned due to the Shelter In-Place Order, we were thankful to have the ability to move our classes to a virtual platform for the remainder of the year.

A special shout out to our Ministry Programs Coordinator, Robyn Jacobs, who stepped right up without skipping a beat and made things happen. She did a phenomenal job keeping everyone informed and connected.

As we all know, our Seniors and other youth had a hard time adjusting during the Rules and Orders due to the community spread of Coronavirus. With that said, we would like to take this opportunity to recognize one of our volunteers who works directly with tween/teen girls in our Monday night programs called Mended Hearts.

Mended Hearts was developed a few years ago out of a need. One of our young moms no longer had a "child", but a "pre-teen" who didn't want to go to the "Child Care" area while her mom attended a life skills workshop. Imagine that!! Lol!

So.... Mended Hearts was birthed. It was developed to provide a safe place for tween/teen girls to talk about life issues and help them navigate life with God's Word.

Little did we know God had a plan that would, once again, blow our socks off. As we were praying for a Facilitator, there was a sweet ministry friend who had also been praying for an opportunity to serve tween/teen girls. Yep. That was Paula Dunn.

Paula does an amazing job leading these young ladies. She is dearly loved by all of them. One of her group participants shared her experience being in Mended Hearts, and it's such a blessing to know lives are being changed in this program.

Here is what she had to say:

"Mrs. Paula is a wonderful woman who is kind and open with us. She is a Godly woman and she knows just the right things to say to help you when you need it. She is always there no matter what, and she loves all us girls unconditionally. She is a good person to know through your dark times."

"Mended Hearts has allowed me to have confidence that I am important in life and that right now I might not know my purpose, but it's there. God loves me no matter what and I may make mistakes, but I am only human. As long as I repent and turn away from it, God will always be there and that I am his princess!"

Thank you Mrs. Paula for your influence in these young ladies' lives. We are eternally grateful for you and thank God for leading you to Still Waters!

If you know a tween/teen girl who would like to participate in the 2020-2021 Mended Hearts group, please contact us at 972-932-4357 or

We have been blessed to have been given an opportunity to attend a training for staff and group leaders. The training better equipped our staff and volunteers in educating young girls/ladies who are considering abortion. It also provided information to help us better serve those who need healing from their abortion experience.

During this training, we learned a new method to offer individuals desiring healing from abortion. It's a "virtual" recovery program. Since the learning experience, we have held our very first online abortion recovery class. We were excited to see with our own eyes that it offers the same healing as a class done in person.

Thank you, Robyn, for testing the waters. We are thankful for your excitement and willingness to think outside of the box!
County Judge Hal Richards declared Still Waters an Essential Business during Shelter In-Place. We were honored to have been given the opportunity to be a place of hope and help to our community during that critical time.

The Lord allowed us ways to reach more individuals and families in need. Since the Shelter In-Place was announced, here are a few things the Lord has done through Still Waters:

  • Allowed us to share the Gospel with a client who made a profession of faith
  • Educated a young mom who wanted to abort her unborn child; however, made the final decision to choose LIFE!!!
  • Helped a young woman heal from her past abortion experience
  • Helped a young mom seek immediate health care who experienced a traumatic miscarriage
  • Provided resources to a young father, as well as, found a safe place for him to live

The Lord used Still Waters in a unique way during our community's crisis and continues to do so in the lives He leads to us. We love watching Him work and do what only He can do.

To God be the glory, great things He has done!!
We are excited about launching a new client website. This is the first time we have had our website professionally developed by a Marketing agency.

Please join us in praying the Lord will use it to reach more individuals and families in unplanned pregnancies in Kaufman County.

We have been extremely blessed by being invited to speak and participate in several events and special projects this year.

Dr. Barry Creamer, President of Criswell College, invited Ketra (our Co-founder and Executive Director) to participate in a discussion panel about pro-life issues. She had previously been invited to talk on his radio show a few years ago, Coffee with Creamer, and discussed the importance of protecting the unborn and how life affirming ministries help do that.

Ketra was joined by two other panelists. Both the panelists and Dr. Creamer talked openly about abortion and the importance of protecting the unborn. She was honored to have been given the opportunity to be a voice for the voiceless.

Other events we have been privileged to do, participate in and/or speak at this year are:

  • CASA's Volunteer Training
  • cLife Kaufman's Ministry Video
  • Country Bible Church's Mission Sunday
  • Crossroads Bible Church's Mission Sunday
  • Kaufman's Chamber of Commerce Business Expo
  • Kaufman's Chamber of Commerce Business Spotlight Video
  • Terrell's Rotary Club

We are always excited to share with others what God is doing at Still Waters. It's an honor and privilege to be used by God to serve Kaufman County.
God has allowed Still Waters to not only serve, but also further His Kingdom in Kaufman County and beyond. We are grateful for this platform and opportunity to show His great love in times of crisis and need.
