The Starfish/

Tuition Assistance Program

This year has been especially busy for the Starfish/Tuition Assistance Program.

We began by donating funds to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Asbury Park. We also continued our support of a young woman attending St. Rose High School, Belmar through tuition assistance.

In addition, we provided funding for a memorial scholarship at St. Leo the Great School. Finally, we were pleased to add Red Bank Catholic HS to our list of partner schools for the first time.

VZF PARTNERS WITH RED BANK CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL

This is the first time the VZF has partnered with RBC, and we are proud to share the impact of this collaboration. Through our Starfish Program, we have provided tuition assistance to three students.

Recently, we had the privilege of attending a benefactors' Mass and breakfast, where we had the opportunity to meet and sit with two of the three students whose lives have been positively affected by this support. It was a meaningful experience to hear their stories and see firsthand the difference this assistance is making in their educational journeys.

VZF Memorial Scholarship at

St. Leo the Great

The winner of the 2026 memorial award at St. Leo the Great is Michael Alfonso. Michael was selected by his teachers and the administration after meeting our criteria of excellent grades, commitment to community service, a passion and dedication to his sport and a reverence for Catholic education. At SLG, Mikey ran track and played basketball.

This summer he is volunteering at SLG for the CCD program, and "I Can Ride", a charity which teaches disabled children to ride a bike. He will do crew over the summer and is also starting his own business!

We wish Mikey all the best as he begins this new chapter at Christian Brothers Academy.
