A Message from Our Principal
Dear St. Bernard’s School Family,

I would like to begin my last letter of the school year 17-18 with words of GRATITUDE for the many people who have made this year a successful one for your children and our school. Thank you to Father David, Father Sleevaraj, and Father Delfin for celebrating the sacraments for us; their presence and support strengthens the Catholic identity of our school. Thank you to our teachers for the countless hours of dedication preparing lessons, grading assignments, coming early and leaving late, caring for our students and always wanting what is best for them. Thank you to our aides for helping in the classrooms and supervising our children during recess and lunch, making sure they are safe. Thank you to our office staff for taking care of bloody noses, aches and pains, while welcoming parents and visitors, answering phones, responding to emails, selling scrip, counting money, and so many other tasks. Thank you to our parents for giving of their time to help out in school activities, raise funds for our school, build community, and create a positive environment. To all of you, THANK YOU for a great year!

Much was accomplished in 17-18. The highlights of the year are always the reception of the sacraments of First Holy Communion in 3rd grade and Confirmation in 7th. Bringing children closer to God is our main goal because it lasts for all eternity. In this world filled with materialism, selfishness, and violence, we want our children to know that God is our safety and hope. Graduation was another great accomplishment. This year 34 students graduated from Pre-K and 25 from 8th grade. Let us not forget the accomplishments of each child in our school, the academic achievements, the building of character, the good choices that were made, the quiet acts of kindness, the lessons learned, the good things that God sees when no one else is watching. Well done, Saints!

There were some difficult times this year, storms that we were able to weather only with faith, prayer, and love for one another. Kerry Adamo will never be forgotten. Ms. Petrig and Mrs. Pombo were able to recover and return to us. Parents, teachers, staff, and students helped each other in times of trial and I believe we are a stronger community for having gone through them.

We bid farewell to Sister Bernadette and Sister Mary Lancaster, two of the first Daughters of the Cross who began the ministry of Catholic education at our school. After 60 years of service, they will be returning to England in June. We are grateful for the seeds of faith they planted in the lives of so many children and their families. They will be greatly missed.

I pray that you will have a restful and safe summer. May God guide you and protect you if you travel or stay home. Enjoy this time of rest and relaxation with family and friends and come back refreshed and ready for a new beginning in August.

Summer Science & Engineering Camp
for Jr. High
Annunciation School, will be hosting a Summer Science and Engineering Camp, sponsored by the Diocese of Stockton Catholic Schools and the University of Notre Dame's Center for STEM Education. Students will explore animal anatomy and physiology, learning how organ systems work in living things.  Also, students entering the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades in the fall, will engage in hands-on activities and science investigations every day!

This year’s Student Council will be collecting for Box Tops Education Program. It is a very easy way to help our school earn money. To help our school, just look for the pink Box Tops on products, clip them, and tape/glue them to the collection posters that are sent home.
