THANK YOU MUTT NATION!

For the third year, non-profit Mutt Nation has generously supported Paws in Prison with a grant!

"Founded by country music icon Miranda Lambert and her mom, Bev Lambert, in 2009, MuttNation is a donation-supported 501c(3) nonprofit organization with a US-focused mission to support the adoption of shelter pets, advance spay & neuter, educate the public about the benefits of these actions, and provide assistance to shelters during times of natural disaster. Since its inception, the Foundation has raised over $11 million and assisted more than 1,000 shelters. MuttNation Fueled by Miranda Lambert, a pet line of toys and supplies that benefits the Foundation, is available exclusively at Tractor Supply Company stores throughout the US."

We are grateful to be amongst the deserving charities!

Can you Guess Annie's DNA?

This cute "branch manager" was adopted from Paws in Prison.

Owner, Elizabeth, shares "After 7 months, she is doing great! We have completed both Manners 1 and 2 with her at Top Dog Training. She is an energetic and loveable dog. I am so glad she has our big yard to run around in. She loves 'hunting' the lizards and squirrels."

Read to the bottom of the newsletter to see if you guessed her genetics correctly!

WINNERS OF THE CUTEST CRITTER CONTEST!

Thank you to all of the participants of the Cutest Critter Contest! You helped raise over $4,800 for Friends of Paws in Prison. Below are the photos of the two pets who secured the most money! We will be creating the 2026 PIP calendar and sending it out to the twelve winning contestants. The calendar will also be on sale on our website soon so get ahead of your holiday shopping and help save more than dogs!

CAN YOU HELP?

Paws Day Pass is a program where volunteers are led by PIP handlers to escort the current dogs out of prison for a day.

What you’ll do:

• Take a pup out for 1–2 hours (walks, coffee run, park time, couch cuddles—your choice)

• Snap a few photos/videos and share a quick note about their day

• Return a happier, calmer dog with new skills and confidence

Why it matters:

• Breaks the stress of kennel life

• Builds leash manners, car comfort, and people skills

• Great photos + notes help us match dogs with the right families

• Many Day Pass dogs get adoption inquiries the same week!

Fall is rolling in, temps are easing up, and our pups are so ready for adventure. A single Day Pass gives a kennel dog a vital reset—fresh air, car rides, sniffs, cuddles, and real-world practice that speeds up adoption. It’s fun for you and life-changing for them.

New to Paws Day Pass? We’ll pair you with a good fit, provide a go-bag (leash, water, treats), and give you simple guidelines. You’re never on your own.

Ready to make a difference in one beautiful afternoon? October 4th, 20th and 27th are the next retreats and you can sign up on the link below.

Do Annie's DNA results surprise you?
