Collective Success
The beauty and the curse of nonprofit work is that we are always sprinting. There is never a shortage of work to be done, and it can be easy to fall into the trap of focusing on what is left to do and what changes we can make than it is to slow down and celebrate the successes we’ve achieved. The Your Hour Her Power campaign was an incredible reminder of the power of slowing down and celebrating – last week, Adams Outdoor hosted the wrap-up celebration, where we announced that our sponsors, Women of Power, and community raised over $225,000 in support of women’s economic independence. Over four years of the campaign, we’ve achieved more than $750,000 of funding, 100% of which goes directly to support women-focused programming. This accomplishment signifies the power of women’s voices, networks, and stories and serves as a strong foundation for 2025, when we will celebrate year 5 of the campaign as well as 25 years of Dress for Success Charlotte.
Your Hour Her Power is just one success of many that our incredible team has accomplished. The suiting program has seen a 55% increase in clients served in 2024 as compared to this same time last year. Volunteers have helped us prepare for our annual inventory audit and our first Inventory Reduction Event and Cocktails & Couture event of the year, as well as countless workshops and suiting appointments for our women. Our team has also adopted Salesforce after a year-long partnership with Apparo, Hylaine and Trane Technologies and are leveraging the technology to identify ways we can streamline our work and have more capacity to serve women in our community.
These accomplishments are all easy to celebrate on the surface, but the deeper value of each of these wins is in the team that dedicates their talents to uplifting women. I am proud to work alongside a group of colleagues who show up every day, determined to expand our reach by showing dignity, compassion, and understanding to each unique woman’s experience. These accomplishments are harder to quantify, but are palpable when you walk into our boutique each day. If these are the successes that we have had in the first four months of the year, I can’t wait to see what we accomplish together in the months ahead.
