Although it is mid-August, we still can’t stop walking around and saying to each other, “it’s going to be a hot one today” or something similar. So let me get it out of my system. It was a real scorcher yesterday as when I went out to my car parked here at Chamber Command 720 North Broadway, my temp gauge showed 106! Not my personal all-time high (112 Palm Springs) experienced but, plenty hot enough!
And, none of that is slowing down what is going on here in Escondido. The Grand project housing Tim Spivey’s New Vintage Church is near completion; the Palomar Heights project is plodding along with an
extended escrow agreed too and much more. The General Election is November 3rd, a mere 76 days away! The Democratic Convention winds down this evening and next we’ll hear from the Republicans next week. And of course, that’s not the only election we need to be ready for. The State, County, and City are also very active with candidates and Measures/Propositions for us to understand and vote on.
Your vote is your voice. Registered voters in San Diego can now, on one page, find their districts, check the status of their registration and mail ballot, view a copy of their official ballot voter information pamphlet and polling location. Just Go Here.
It’s imperative that we all do our part by first registering and then educating ourselves on the candidates and issues we’re voting on. And of course, voting.
Follow or virtually attend one of the Chamber’s upcoming series of candidate forums planned as one-step in helping you educate yourself. These will be posted soon on our Chamber website.
Tomorrow morning I invite you to join me at our Economic Development meeting as we take a behind the scenes look at The Grand; Escondido's new home of Pastor Tim Spivey’s New Vintage Church, the Manzanita Roasting Company, and so much more. Tim will lead us on a live hard hat tour and interview, sharing his experience in seeing this project come to fruition. It’s an exciting addition to our Grand Avenue shopping and dining district.
Finally, congratulations to Jerry and his talented staff at the California Center for the Arts for kicking off the first of a series of outdoor drive-in entertainment at the Westfield North County mall!
Sincerely,
James Rowten (JR)
