Office of the Small Business Advocate Announces New Funding Rounds for the California Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant Program

Three additional rounds for the California Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant Program will be available to support small businesses and nonprofits that have struggled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mayor James Bozajian, President of the Los Angeles Division of the League of California Cities
Calabasas Mayor James R. Bozajian was sworn in on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at the Calabasas Civic Center as President of the Los Angeles County Division of the League of California Cities.

The position can only be held by an elected municipal official in Los Angeles County, typically a City Councilmember or Mayor.
To encourage local giving for causes in The Valley, we are conducting the Give Where You Live campaign.

Established for 16 years, a partner of the U.S. Small Business Administration as a 504 Lender and a Micro Lender, and a partner with the Department of Treasury as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), AmPac has funded more than half a billion dollars in loans for small businesses.

As the only faith based SBA 504 Lender in the country, AmPac is committed to connecting Faith & Business and works with local churches and house of worships to bring information to business owners involved in local churches.

Hilda Kennedy is Founder and President and serves on the national executive board for SBA 504 lenders across the country, a member of the Board of Trustees for Cal Baptist University, Riverside, and served as President of the National Association of Women Business Owners, both locally in the Inland Empire and statewide representing 11 chapters throughout the state of California.

Richard Pallay brings a wealth of expertise that will allow AmPac clients to achieve their entrepreneurial goals. As the newly appointed SVP of Community Lending, the New York native is tasked with developing the infrastructure for AmPac’s lending efforts, including supervising underwriting and loan servicing and assist Greater Los Angeles entrepreneurs in the pursuit and understanding of the importance of financial resources to help them thrive.

Lois Pagaspas Klavir is a Business Relationship Manager at JPMorgan Chase.
In her role, she acquires, manages and grows account relationships with complex business clients with annual revenues of $5MM to $20MM. Lois serves the LA North Market and is one of the region’s top Small Business Administration (SBA) loan producers. Lois specializes in owner-occupied real estate financing, business loans, lines of credit, business credit cards, merchant services, treasury services, and business deposits.
 
In addition to her 21-year banking career, Lois devotes her time to serving and volunteering in her community. She is the President-Elect for the Filipino American Chamber of Commerce Greater LA (FACCGLA.org) serving the San Fernando Valley area. Prior to her current role at the Chamber, Lois held leadership positions as the VP of Events and the VP of Membership. Lois is also one of the Founding Board Members and the VP of Membership for the Coalition of Filipino American Chambers of Commerce (COFACC). The Coalition was founded in 2018 and continues to grow.

In Memoriam 
Karl Boeckmann
September 9, 1935 - August 4, 2021

Karl Boeckmann was a decades-long civic and business leader in the San Fernando Valley who built a legacy of dedication, hard work, integrity, leadership and community involvement.

Karl was recipient of aggregate honors and awards, including the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, the One Generation Hearts Across the Valley award, the Philanthropist of the Year and successful 2004 was presented with the Fernando Award for outstanding assemblage enactment and service.

Karl will remain in our hearts and be greatly missed.
