Corona-Norco Adult School is making significant strides in healthcare education by providing comprehensive career training programs. With recent successes in certifying nurse assistants and new programs launching in 2024, the school is committed to preparing students for in-demand medical careers using opportunities and braiding resources with ELL IET funding grant.

Applications are open for the CAEP Consortium Leadership Academy (CLA)! The intended applicant is new to their role within the last 3 years. If you believe the CLA is perfect for you, but fall outside that criteria email TAP to discuss additional options.

The application window will close June 15, 2025 and notifications will be sent out at the end of June. The CLA program was created to build the capacity of consortia leads, directors, and co-chairs to effectively lead their consortium through a student-centered leadership approach.

The application for the CALPRO Training-of-Trainers (ToT) institute that will take place online (Moodle) between June 9 and June 30th AND at the CALPRO office in Sacramento on Monday and Tuesday, June 23-24, 2025, is now open. The ToT is for the new community of practice (CoP) on Fundamentals of Adult Education Instruction. Accepted participants agree to become a CALPRO trainer.

The CoP aims to equip instructors in adult education programs with the practical tools and strategies needed to implement evidence-based instruction that meets the varied needs of adult learners.

The objectives include:

(1) using various data to design instruction that leverages adult learners’ strengths and motivations,

(2) developing and using formative assessments effectively,

(3) designing learner-centered differentiated classroom activities, and

(4) planning lessons to meet instructional goals.

Connecting Textbook Lessons and Games to the English Language Proficiency Standards for Online Classes!

Donna Price is back with her engaging “gamify” presentation. This session will focus on online classes! Want to add some additional games, mixers, and other communicative activities to your teaching palette? Join Donna Price as she shares activities that reinforce the ELPS for adult education. She will share five standards and demonstrate game-like activities for online classes that address the standard. Adaptable to any level, these activities reinforce listening, speaking, reading, writing, vocabulary, and grammar to prepare students for standardized tests that are based on the ELPS.

Teaching in the Age of AI-Everything You Wanted to Know But Were Afraid to Ask

Registration is now open for this free, half-day, in-person, 2025 Summer Convening's. These convenings are designed to provide timely updates to and collect information from attendees regarding the GED and HiSET exams. The California Department of Education (CDE) invites chief examiners, test site administrators, school counselors, and others with a connection to the high school equivalency and proficiency programs to join us.  Feel free to share this informational flyer (PDF) with others.
