The Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services Department (BPRYCS) Main Office and the Dennis Malone Aquatics Center (DMAC) will be closed the following days in observance of the Christmas and New Year's Holidays:

  • Sunday, December 24 - Monday, December 25, 2023: Main Office & DMAC Closed
  • Tuesday, December 26, 2023: Main Office Closed
  • Sunday, December 31, 2023 - Monday, January 1, 2024: Main Office & DMAC Closed

2024 Winter/Spring Registration Opening Soon!

Registration for 2024 Winter/Spring Events and Programs (beginning January - May) opens on Tuesday, December 12th for Residents and Wednesday, December 13th for Non-residents. Programs and events make great Holiday gifts!

Dedicate a Luminaria!

Light is a universal symbol of Good, Knowledge, Hope and Love. Luminaries will be placed around the perimeter of the field in conjunction with the Night of Lights on Saturday, December 16th. Luminaries symbolize the spirit of the holidays, bringing light and warmth into our community members homes, honoring loved ones with peace, and guiding residents into a bright and joyful New Year.

The Gift Giving Program provides gift assistance to eligible Bristol youth and families during the holiday season.

Help us make the holiday season cheery and bright for all by donating to the City's Holiday Gift Giving Program. All donations directly serve Bristol youth (ages 0 - 18)!!

Light Up Bristol at Page Pool

Once again Bristol resident , Kristopher Salls, has donated his time and displays to spread holiday cheer at Page Park Pool. The Light Up Bristol display will run through the holiday season. Light Up Bristol is collecting toy donations to benefit the Holiday Gift Giving Program.

In coordination with the Bristol Arts and Innovation Magnet School (BAIMS), we are excited to present Downtown Live at the Rockwell Theater! The 100+ year old Rockwell Theater boasts stunning architecture along with a cozy atmosphere, seating 620 patrons on the base level and second floor balcony. BPRYCS works congruently with BAIMS to provide shows to the public throughout the year. Learn More

Our Parks, Grounds, and Facilities crew worked hard to prepare Muzzy Field for the 64th Battle for the Bell football matchup between Bristol Eastern and Bristol Central on Thanksgiving day!

The 2023 Fall Softball Leagues wrapped up earlier this month. Team Big Dawg Custom Apparel ultimately took home the Championship in the 2023 Men’s 40-and-Over Fall Softball League, while Team Redman’s swept the 2023 Co-Ed Fall Softball League to be named champions.

BPRYCS and the Bristol Veterans Council held a rededication ceremony of the 1916 Heavy Howitzer Cannon on Saturday, November 18th on Memorial Boulevard.

Downtown's Live's show featuring Scenes: A Billy Joel experience electrified community members inside the Rockwell Theater. Next up: Christmas with the Nashville King in December!

Madison Fostervold, BPRYCS Recreation Program Assistant, received the Dorothy G. Mullen/George Sanford Student Scholarship at the 63rd Annual CT Recreation and Park Association Conference.

The 26th Annual Turkey Shoot Basketball Contest was held on Nov. 19th. Bristol youth ages 4 to 13 partnered with an adult to make as many foul shots as possible. The competition was divided based on age, with winning teams receiving a Price Chopper gift card to purchase a Thanksgiving turkey!

The City of Bristol was awarded the Facility of Merit Award for the E.G. Stocks/Casey Field Renovation Project at the 63rd Annual CT Recreation and Park Association Conference in November. Staff represented the department at the awards ceremony and enjoyed conference sessions and the resource/vendor hall.
