1. Chair Talk...

Hello, fellow Democrats.

I hope you had an excellent Thanksgiving with friends and/or family. I like Thanksgiving. There doesn’t seem to be as much pressure, just good food, now quickly on to Christmas. I know everyone is busy, so I’m keeping it short and light today. So get a cup of hot chocolate and let’s share some good news.

A Louisiana court said, "not today," and revoked a key permit for a massive gas export project in Cameron, Louisiana called Commonwealth LNG. Through local community members and environmental supporters like YOU, who pointed out that the corporation and state regulators weren't looking into the climate impacts or how losing wetlands would hurt nearby communities. And Market projections show we don't even need all this extra gas, but fossil fuel companies and the Trump administration keep pushing to build more anyway, all for their own greed, profits, and power!

Texas National Guard troops returned home before Thanksgiving after being deployed to Illinois to support federal immigration agents.

“Merry Christmas!” DOGE has quietly ceased to exist. Good riddance. The department that Musk led has apparently been dissolved, with eight months remaining in its contract.

Democrats announced a new investment to win over voters in rural areas.

In Charlotte, NC, Carolina’s Towing company is offering free vehicle pickup for families affected by Border Patrol detentions, retrieving cars left behind to prevent fines and fees.

“Happy New Year!” A new Gallup poll finds Trump’s job approval rating has fallen to 36%, while disapproval has risen to 60%. Also, stocks associated with Trump are sharply declining, and there is now reporting about Trump’s signs of fatigue and that his terrible rants are a reaction to his unpopularity.

WE’RE WINNING! Don’t stop making phone calls, writing postcards, and signing petitions. They work!

Please come to our Holiday party on December 17th at the Blanco Library, 6 pm-8 pm. There is more news about that in this newsletter.

If I don’t see you, I wish you all the Merriest Christmas and Happiest New Year! You are the best people! I hope you make a New Year’s resolution to vote in every election and to work to get Democrats in office up and down the ballot.

Take good care and love. Maggie

6. Feature: Winning Democrats!

The period since November 1, 2025, has been marked by a strong showing for Democrats in off-year elections, special elections, and ballot measures, often exceeding expectations in swing and red-leaning areas. This includes the November 4, 2025, general elections (a major rebuke to the Trump administration) and subsequent special elections through early December. These victories highlight gains in executive, legislative, judicial, and local races, with Democrats flipping seats, breaking GOP supermajorities, and securing progressive milestones. Below is a ranked list of the top 30 wins, prioritized by national impact, margin of victory, and strategic importance (e.g., potential effects on 2026 midterms). Sources are cited inline where drawn from search results.

30 | Adelita Grijalva elected to US Congress | Arizona | Nov 4, 2025 | Tucson-area seat; education, immigration advocate; builds on AZ-7 special.

These 30 wins reflect voter concerns over affordability, Trump's policies (e.g., shutdown, immigration), and democracy, with Democrats overperforming 2024 margins by an average of +20 points in specials. Polls show Dems leading 53-44% nationally, favoring House recapture in 2026. Momentum is building, but sustained organizing is key.
