We hope you have a safe, fun, and happy Halloween this year.
Here are 5 fun facts about Halloween you may not know:

1. A full moon on Halloween is extremely rare. The most recent full moon was in 2001, and prior to that was in 1955. The next full moon on Halloween won't occur again until 2020.

2. Trick-or-Treating is a long standing tradition. Trick-or-treating (or a similar version) has been around since medieval times. Adults and children used to dress up in costumes and go around begging for food or money in exchange for songs.

3. Halloween is the second-most commercial American holiday of the year after Christmas. In America alone the candy industry receives an average of $2 billion a year from Halloween (that is roughly 90 million pounds of chocolate). It's estimated that Americans spend around $6 billion on Halloween a year (including candy, costumes and decorations).

4. The largest pumpkin ever measured was grown by Norm Craven, who broke the world record in 1993 with a 836 lb. pumpkin.

5. Samhainophobia is the fear of Halloween.
