From the Desk of the Community Lay Director:
In our daily lives we need to have faith in God and faith He will guide us to do His will. I have faith He will be with us on our walks. We also have to have faith that He will guide us to potential pilgrims for us to invite; we just need to take the initiative and become their sponsor.
The following comes from the Billy Graham website.
You can never please God without faith, without depending on him. Anyone who wants to come to God must believe that there is a God and that he rewards those who sincerely look for him.
—Hebrews 11:6 (TLB)
Faith pleases God more than anything else. The Christian life is dependent upon faith. We stand on faith; we live on faith. Faith is loved and honored by God more than any other single thing. The Bible teaches that faith is the only approach that we have to God. No man has sins forgiven, no man goes to heaven, no man has assurance of peace and happiness, until he has faith in Jesus Christ. You may be saying, “God, I believe you are a great person, but I do not believe your Word; I do not believe what you say.” In order to please God, you must believe Him. Perhaps your faith is small and weak. It does not matter how big your faith is, but rather, where your faith is. Is it in Christ, the Son of God, who died on the cross for your sins?
Prayer for the day
Lord Jesus, may my faith in You and Your abundant promises be ever increasing each day.
DeColores!

ATTENTION MUSICIANS:
If you are interested in sharing your musical gifts at Community Gatherings or Walks, please contact
Jim Hitt,
the Music Board Rep, at:
(912) 614-4701.
We have
SPENT $2,525.93 of the $3,000 fundraiser
for the purchase of the new sound equipment! Last month's newsletter had a typo saying we had raised the $2,525.93. The board voted to go ahead and purchase the new equipment so the music teams could be trained on it for the upcoming walks. So we are still taking donations to make up the difference in what we have raised. We still need donations please!
Thank you for your generous donations that you have already made!
We will continue to fundraise to make up the balance so keep those donations coming in!!
For more information on how to make a donation, please contact
Jim Hitt
for details! Your donations ARE tax deductible! Please prayerfully consider making a monetary donation specifically designated for the new sound equipment!! Jim is working on training dates for the musicians to get familiar with the new equipment and dates to train new musicians.

Reflections from the Heart

When I studied psychology in college, our class discussed an interesting experiment. Children were given the opportunity to play on a playground that wasn’t fenced in, and a playground that was fenced in. It turns out, the children had more fun and were more active on the fenced in playground. They were more comfortable knowing where their boundaries were.
God provides us with boundaries because He loves us. He created us, and He knows best how to nurture us and help us lead the full life He intends for us to have. The Ten Commandments are a great starting place:
- You shall have no other gods before Me.
- You shall not make idols.
- You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.
- Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
- Honor your father and your mother.
- You shall not murder.
- You shall not commit adultery.
- You shall not steal.
- You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
- You shall not covet.
God set these rules out to give us healthy boundaries. Within these boundaries we can live our best, most joyous, most productive lives. Let’s not forget what our freedom and independence cost. Let’s use our freedom as a catalyst to
‘Do all the good we can,
By all the means we can,
In all the ways we can,
In all the places we can,
At all the times we can,
To all the people we can,
As long as ever we can.’

Happy 40th Anniversary "Walk To Emmaus"! Extending Through June!
The "Walk To Emmaus" experience began in 1978 according to the Upper Room FAQ's. So this May we will celebrate 40+ years of this spiritual journey! The "Golden Isles Walk To Emmaus" organization began in 2005. To spread the agape love and invite others to become part of Emmaus, we are suggesting having an "Emmaus Sunday" in your church. Talk to your pastor and see if one of the members could give a 5 minute talk about Emmaus and have a table at your church entrance with information and pilgrim applications available with Emmaus members present to answer any questions. We ask that the members only wear their badges to church on that "Emmaus Sunday" but feel free to wear your colorful DeColores shirts! This will recognize any Emmaus members in your church and may help spark interest to potential pilgrims!
Pick any Sunday in June that would work for your church!
You can download the Emmaus pamphlet
here
to print out and hand out to interested church members!
Dave DuBois suggested this talk to use for your Emmaus Sunday!

Update on the new Ministry Manager System -
By now you should have received an invitation to register with the new Upper Room Ministry Manager System. Reminder this system is 100% email driven, without a valid email address you won't be able to register. If you have not received an email invitation from
ministrymanager@upperroom.org
please let me know at
annewojcik59@gmail.com
so I can get your email address updated in the system and resend the invitation. Also, any pilgrims on file in IMS at the time of conversion received an invitation to register in Ministry Manager. This is only to get them registered in the database and should not be confused as an invitation to attend the walk. Invitations to pilgrims to attend the walks will go out the first week of August. If you have any questions, please let me know by email.
Blessings,
Anne Wojcik, GIWTE Registrar
