Dear W4S Community,

This month we want to share with you a tremendously inspiring webinar. Princess Ronke Ademiluyi founded African Fashion Week London, an incredible UK fashion event that promotes African and African-inspired design talent. She has featured over 1,000 designers and exhibitors to date.

In 2014, she created a local edition in Nigeria, called Africa Fashion Week Nigeria, with the aim that young African designers from all over the continent who could not afford to travel to London to do their exhibition would also have the opportunity to exhibit. .

In this dialogue we talk about the problems faced by African women and the debt that fashion owes to a continent that has inspired even the most recognized brands worldwide. Relive it by clicking on the image below!

We also invite you to relieve this amazin webinar by Adriana Marina that we called "Authentic Sustainable Fashion. A shift in social and environmental norms: ANIMANÁ & Hecho por Nosotros". This two organizations promoted circular fashion in the Latin América for over ten years and created momentum for a transformation of the fashion industry into a platform for good that can impulse the SDGs 2030.

Our recomendations for this month

Co-creating the Caring Economy

Pillar #1

Promotion of the value of the "work of care". Listen to Gail Dines in this webinar about the Porn Culture. Research shows that since 2000, the internet has become the main vehicle for porn, and hardcore porn is just a click away—it is free, violent, and based on the degradation and abuse of women.

Pillar #2

Raise awareness about care for the environment. If you are interested in fashion and the environment, we recommend this webinar where you will learn about the concept of Slow Fashion. The textile industry is one of the most polluting and we can stop its impact by incorporating sustainable practices.

Pillar #3

Education in all stages of life. Enjoy a talk with Narda Pitkehly about the new ways of teaching and learning. There are other methods for our children to learn to read and write in English and Spanish.
