From Carl Fox, owner of the Crazy Fox Saloon in Covington, written 5/31/24:
"Tomorrow it will be 34 years since my late husband and I started Rosie's Tavern, June 1st, 1990... I also found out my husband had AIDS. Greg Landrum was my Partner and Husband, he made it possible for me to buy that wreck of a bar called Elmer & Marty's Tavern and rename it after my late Mother Rosie. We negotiated with Elmer Smith for almost 2 months, Greg getting sicker and sicker... The day we bought that bar, he was admitted to Jewish Hospital with full blown AIDS.... He died in July of 1992, it was his life insurance that paid for the renovations we did over the next 6 years.
In 1996, I met my Husband Terry Bond at the bar, We have been together ever since!!
I sold the bar to Diane Gamble in 1998, she has built it into the Icon it is today. I can't help but be proud of the work that Greg and I started, and how much the area resembles what we had hoped for so long ago. So Cheers to Rosie's Tavern, "Where Everyone is Welcome!", Happy Birthday!!!"

John Arthur Flats is now Pre-Leasing! John Arthur Flats is the first LGBTQ+ friendly 55+ senior affordable housing development in Cincinnati. It contains 57 newly constructed studio, 1- and 2-bedroom apartments affordable to seniors ranging from 30% AMI to 60% AMI. This 3-story elevator served building is in an ideal walkable location with easy access to the Northside business district, McKie Recreation Center and many other nearby amenities.
For many LGBTQ older adults, the social stigma they’ve experienced and the added stress of dealing with decades of discrimination can put them at greater risk of physical and mental illnesses, experiencing higher rates of poverty and suffering higher rates of housing discrimination. Innovative housing solutions like John Arthur Flats respond to this need, providing a safe and welcoming environment for seniors to age in place in community. All are welcome to apply!
