Don’t look now but Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year are right around the corner. With the way this year is going I think most of us can’t wait for the New Year.

Now more than ever the Chamber asks that you support local businesses, particularly during the holidays. The latest restrictions are going to stress the business community even more and if all of us could make it a point to support local businesses, many who are struggling mightily, that’d be a good thing.

Thank you to Tim and Emily Spivey for their dedication and fortitude in realizing their dream of locating the New Vintage Church in the refurbished Ritz Theatre. It is quite an accomplishment and hats off to the City and Erickson-Hall Construction for working through all the challenges and coming out with a great finished project adding to our community.

The Chamber also welcomes two more additions to the business community Sydnee’s Pet Grooming and Four Tunas restaurant. The Chamber helped celebrate these additions with recent ribbon cuttings. And yes, all proper safety and health protocols were in place.

While I’m on the subject of businesses in our community I want to thank Justin Salter the Publisher of our local paper The Escondido Times-Advocate and David Ross the Editor-In-Chief for their dedication to reporting on all things Escondido.

Please consider supporting an ongoing promotion which is designed to help the local restaurant industry. Escondido Eats “Fill your Plate, Fill Your Heart” is a great way to help support local participating restaurants who are featuring menu specials right now through 11/22 with a portion of the proceeds going to the North County Food Bank. This is a combined promotion between the City, the Downtown Business Association and the Chamber of Commerce under the umbrella of the Escondido Eats campaign. More information and a list of participating restaurants can be found at here.

The Chamber is continuing on our mission to help make our community the best place to open and operate a business. Pretty broad statement I know but, we’re committed and driven to make this happen. We need your help to do this. Consider getting involved with the Chamber - contact us as there are plenty of opportunities to be a part of our movement.

Sincerely,

James Rowten (JR)
