Developing Tomorrow's

School Division
is home to a very unique society; at Parkland Village School MicroSociety replicates Canadian Society in an authentic and meaningful way. Students participate in this society through elected government, government service, private enterprise, or non-governmental organizations. All students apply for positions, interview, undergo performance assessments, collect wages, manage their own bank account, pay taxes and spend money just as in the real world.

Partners are the backbone of this initiative, and these young entrepreneurs will benefit immensely with our business community's support. The supporters receive some of the following recognition: Partner name included in a venture name, in signage, publications, social media, and at award events. The partner contributions vary in support with expertise, materials, financial support, or even participating in their student council. "Your Company Store/service name" can be a huge part of this fascinating society. Some of the recent ventures for sale were: Bugs & Berries Gift Shop, Italian Bistro, Sweet Treats, Micro Media, Picture it Nail & Tattoo Salon, Pro Sports Life, TechCheck (3D printer/design) to name a few.

MicroSociety fosters an entrepreneurial spirit, mentors ethical citizenship, builds leadership skills and creates engaged thinking in students. This is a great opportunity for our members to encourage and mentor our young business owners and entrepreneurs. Many options. Many benefits.

You can check out this 120 Seconds for Micro Society PVS created by students for more information.

Please contact Lesley Jeanes at 780-962-8121 or by emailing ljeanes@psd70.ab.ca on how you can support this initiative.
