ACT Prep Course

Tesla STEM PTSA is excited to offer an ACT preparation course for students registering for the ACT exam on February 9 th, 2019.
What Paragon Tutoring  course includes 8 2-hour group sessions, 4 proctored full length ACT practice exams, study materials, and coaching
Who : Recommended for 11th graders
When :  First practice exam is Sat, Nov 17 at 9:00 am; first group session is Tues, Dec 4 at 2:45pm
Price : $385 per student, due by Nov 9th.
Why : Main goal of the course is confidence. Your student will learn the format of the ACT, what the ACT covers, and how to approach exam questions.
Registration link is available on the  Tesla STEM PTSA website .  Please note, this course  does not include  registration for the ACT .
Internship Experience  (*)

The Problem Based Learning Internship-Experience Program is an important aspect of the Tesla STEM High School experience. Scholars have access to these unique opportunities during their junior year. The school is reaching out to parents/guardians for their help in keeping the program updated and robust.
If you are interested in providing internship experiences or have contacts who can, you are invited to attend the Internship Experience Committee meeting: Wednesday, November 14th at 7 PM, LWSD Resource Center: 16250 NE 74th Street at Redmond Town Center. Note: use the doors adjacent to the parking lot as the doors facing the street are locked in the evenings.

(*) Please note, this is a school committee which PTSA is helping to promote.
College-Related Talk for Parents/Guardians:  The scoop on Financial Aid - Don't Pay the Full Price

Are you mystified by the college funding process? You are in good company! LWPTSA Council in partnership with LWSD is pleased to sponsor a parent-education talk on college financial aid by Peg Keough, Way to the Quad:

You Are Invited! Scholarship Basket Auction & Raffle Fundraiser by the Lake Washington PTSA Council

Come grab a free latte and peruse and bid on the creative baskets donated by all PTAs in our district. In addition to the silent auction, there will be a lively raffle and an awesome gift card wall. Hint: our favorite baskets are the two donated by our very own Tesla STEM PTSA: 1) The Kindle & Tech Basket and 2) Coffee & Chocolate Nibbles Basket. All proceeds from the event support post-high school learning opportunities for Lake Washington students and continuing education opportunities for our staff.
Thank you to our volunteer parent Asma Sood for her creative efforts in designing the beautiful Tesla STEM PTSA baskets. And thank you to the parents who generously donated items for the basket!

Volunteer Opportunity: Special Needs Liaison 

Seeking a caring volunteer with great listening and communication skills:
  • Attend monthly meetings (6:30 - 8:30 PM) in which you will hear from speakers, learn about resources in the community, network with other parents, and keep updated on district and PTSA issues affecting children with special needs.
  • Keep our school community informed about the topics.
  • Help answer families' questions about special education and/or direct them to the relevant resources.

Yearbooks are available for sale online through parent access, or at the office with cash or check (made out to LWSD), November 1-22. The cost is $48.00. If you are uncertain if a book was purchased for your student, please look at the parent access purchase history to confirm.
PTSA is here to help!

Tesla STEM PTSA believes that financial need shouldn't be a barrier to students fully participating in the Tesla STEM HS curriculum. To support that, the PTSA has partnered with the school counselors and Principal to provide scholarship funds to students in need.
Families who need help with fees and supplies are encouraged to contact their counselor at STEM with their requests.
Confidentiality of such requests is strictly maintained - requests are considered by the school and no one at PTSA knows the names of the requestors. 
Please don't hesitate to contact the counselors, if PTSA can help.
