MMS Monthly E-Newsletter |  May 2016
From the Co-Directors:
We have lots of news to share at this busy time of year!
  • Congratulations to our sixth-year students Will Best, Hayden Carriger, Ukiah Cordell, Minnah Gayed, Emma Hopkins, Jayden Pomeroy, Shannon Rogers, and Yasin Shams!  Under the guidance of Juli Phillips, these students have spent the year researching a topic of their choosing and writing a ten-page, typed paper including bibliography. They are now ready to present their reports at a special ceremony on May 9th at the Middle School campus.
  • Congratulations to our first Mountaineer Montessori Middle School graduating class --- Julia Carriger, Jamie Coleman, Haya Moushmoush, Jasmine Phillips, and Hannah Scarbrough!  We will hold a graduation ceremony in their honor on May 31st at the Columbia Gas Cafeteria.
  • We are pleased to announce that our 2016-2017 MMS staff will include Loren Lodge as our new full-time Reading Specialist.  Loren is a graduate of WV Wesleyan College with a degree in Elementary Education and is currently working part-time as a tutor at The Appalachian Reading Center.  Welcome, Loren!
  • We are searching for a part-time math specialist for the middle school.  Please help us spread the word that we are looking for someone with a strong background in mathematics to work two mornings a week at the middle school teaching Pre-Algebra through Calculus and Trigonometry.
  • It's time to order your 'M' Gear!  Watch for an order form coming home with your child.  'M' hoodies are now available!
  • We want to recognize Randall J. Hill M.D. & Aaron R. Parry II, M.D. for their sponsorship of the Masquerade event; and Amanda Barren for her enthusiastic support during the live auction.
We appreciate your support during the past year.  Please join us in the MMS kitchen next week before or after your child's conference for coffee and pastries - we'd love to have a chance to chat with you.
