AN UPDATE FROM OUR DIRECTOR:
It's safe to say that one month ago, none of us anticipated the full extent of what would happen in our communities. But as we enter week 5 (or more, for some) of quarantine, EPIC remains committed to supporting our families and bringing you relevant, credible content to help navigate this "new normal."
That's why we are so proud to launch our
today. We'll be continuing to post homeschool ideas in
Literacy, STEM, art, nature, health and wellness
and more, as a way to take some of the teaching burden off our parents while still supplying kids with the support they need to complete their schoolwork from home. We call it
- and while we know it doesn't replace your actual school, our hope is it still gives you and your family fun and educational things to work on together.
The channel also features "
Kitchen Table Talks
": an opportunity to connect with our community at the heart of any home, the kitchen table. The first chapter of this series is "
", where we talk with local experts about the best ways to discuss the pandemic with your children, as well as handling new behavioral situations that may arise as a result.
We're also entering the third week of our
Family Support Line
, available Monday through Friday for ANYTHING you need:
Whether it's stress management, positive discipline techniques, motivating your kids to do assignments or anything in between, an EPIC team member will be standing by to help. We also created
"Parenting on Pause"
designed to help parents with self care while they're so busy caring for others.
You can also continue to check out our
page - it's constantly being refreshed with updates for you regarding unemployment pay, health information, policy changes and more, as well as new homeschool ideas for kids of all ages.
From the EPIC family to yours, we wish you continued health and peace in these ever-changing times.
Tara N. Burgess, Executive Director
and the entire EPIC team
