| | FROM THE MASSACHUSETTS LEGISLATURE | | Rep. Meschino Attends MA Land Conservation Conference | | The conference, hosted by the Massachusetts Land Trust Coalition, included workshops on natural climate solutions, watershed restoration, and forest management. My bills focused on protecting our natural and working lands (H.1005) and ensuring effective drought management (H.1003) fit closely with the conference themes. I enjoyed hearing Congressman Jim McGovern give a moving keynote address about the state of the environment under a new administration and Congress. | | (Left to Right) Steve Long from The Nature Conservancy, Congressman Jim McGovern, and Representative Meschino | | Caucus of Women Legislators Kicks Off 50th Anniversary | | The Massachusetts Caucus of Women Legislators (MCWL) was established in April 1975 by 14 women legislators from the MA House of Representatives. The longest-running bipartisan and bicameral women’s caucus in the nation, the MCWL now has 60 members, and represents over 30% of the MA legislature. This week, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the caucus with remarks from Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, Senate President Karen Spilka, and other women leaders in the legislature. I enjoyed celebrating the accomplishments of the past fifty years while looking forward to the next fifty years of female leadership in the Commonwealth. | | Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, Caucus Executive Director Seble Alemu, and Caucus of Women Legislators Members | | Bills Assigned to Committees | Earlier this month, a majority of the approximately 7,000 bills filed in the Massachusetts legislature were assigned to their respective legislative committees and given bill numbers. The committees will now begin holding public hearings to hear testimony on the bills before ruling on them. To search for a bill or see what I have filed, you can visit MA Legislature. | | STATE AND FEDERAL HIGHLIGHTS | | MBTA Announces Summer Ferry Schedule | | Weekend Service for the Hingham/Hull Ferry will begin on Memorial Day Weekend, with summer service restarting on Saturday, May 24, 2025. Meschino Honors Daughters of the American Revolution Awardees | | I had the pleasure of celebrating impressive young local leaders from the 3rd Plymouth District with Senator O’Connor at the Daughters of the American Revolution 2025 Good Citizens Awards. The awardees from my district - Clara from Hingham High School, Drew from Cohasset High School, and Grace from Hull High School - exemplify a commitment to service, leadership, and having a positive impact on the local community.
