LEGISLATIVE LOWDOWN

Governor Healey Delivers State of the Commonwealth

I had the pleasure of attending Governor Healey’s third State of the Commonwealth Address. While highlighting the ways in which her administration has worked to make life more affordable for residents, Governor Healey announced a number of new initiatives which you can read about here. I was able to reconnect with several colleagues and enjoyed hearing about the Governor’s priorities for the upcoming year.

Rep. Meschino Attends New England Boat Show

The New England Boat Show is always a great time to reflect on the importance of the boating industry in Massachusetts. I joined Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll, fellow legislators, and members from the National Marine Manufacturers Association and Massachusetts Marine Trade Association in celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Boat Show this past week.

Governor Healey Announces New Healthcare Policies

This month, Governor Healey brought forward new healthcare policies to lower costs and make it easier to receive care. At the event, the Governor announced the elimination of prior authorizations for essential care and the creation of a health care affordability working group to lower costs.

I was glad to run into Cynthia Sierra, CEO of Manet Community Health Center, at the event. Manet continues to provide crucial services for our community.

Legislators Attend Library Network Breakfast

It was great to visit with library friends and advocates from Cohasset, Hull, and Scituate at the Old Colony Library Network legislative breakfast. We heard from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners about their legislative priorities and budget requests for FY27. Public libraries are essential to vibrant local communities, serving as centers for early educational programs, student research, job search programs, cultural and historic programs, and provide many other activities and resources that bind our communities together.
