Prepare for Winterfest

TONIGHT at 7PM

The big day is finally here! Our students have been working tirelessly this fall, preparing multicultural folk songs and stories to share at our annual Winterfest celebration. One of the highlights is a traditional Celtic folk song, which ties beautifully into our exploration of Ireland in Social Studies.

Join us for an enchanting evening filled with music, dance, and the joy of community as we celebrate the season together!

When: Tonight at 7 PM

Where: Classroom

What to Expect:

  • Song & Dance Performances: Enjoy lively and heartfelt performances by our talented students.
  • Individual Talent Acts: Cheer on our budding stars as they showcase their unique skills.
  • Mandarin Demonstrations: Witness how our students are mastering their foreign language abilities.

Student Attire:

  • Black pants (or a black skirt for young ladies, if preferred).
  • A solid-color top in a bright shade like red, green, purple, or blue (no pastels, please).
  • Please opt for polished attire—no T-shirts!

Arrival Time: Plan to arrive by 6:45 PM to grab a seat and settle in before the show begins promptly at 7 PM.

Bring a Treat to Share: Let’s make this a festive and delicious event! Please bring a light snack to share—think fruit, veggies, crackers, cheese, or cookies. No tree nuts or peanuts!

📣 We’re excited to see you tonight and look forward to making this Winterfest an unforgettable celebration!

Join Us for a Day of Discovery

at the Michigan Science Center!

Next Friday, December 20th, we are heading to the Michigan Science Center in Detroit for an exciting day of learning and exploration. This field trip is packed with activities and experiences that tie directly into our science curriculum. Here’s everything you need to know to plan your day:

Schedule:

  • 9:00 AM: Meet at school if you’d like to caravan down to the Science Center. Departure is at 9:15 AM.
  • 10:00 AM: Arrive at the Michigan Science Center and begin our day of discovery!

Morning Activities (10am-11am):

  • Explore the Health & Wellness and Earth, Wind, & Weather exhibits, which align with our first two science units: Human Body Systems and Weather & Climate.

Midday (11am-12:30pm):

  • Watch the Backyard Wilderness show at the Toyota Engineering 4D Theater.
  • Lunch:
  • Eat in the “Lunar Dining” area on the Main Level.
  • You can purchase food there (menu available here) or bring your own lunch, which you’ll need to carry with you.
  • Note: There is no secure area to store personal belongings.

Afternoon Activities (12:30pm):

  • Continue exploring the Main Level, including areas like Sun, Earth, & Universe and Roads, Bridges, & Tunnels. Who knows? We might inspire a future civil engineer!
  • Visit the Tyrannosaurus Exhibit (1:30 pm) in the mid-afternoon for a prehistoric adventure.

Wrap-Up: After the exhibit, feel free to explore the Science Center at your own pace and head home whenever it’s convenient for your family.

📣 What You Need to Do:

  • Let us know if you’re joining the caravan or meeting us at the Science Center.
  • Plan for lunch by deciding whether to purchase on-site or bring your own.
  • Bring your curiosity and a sense of adventure!

We look forward to an engaging and inspiring day together at the Michigan Science Center!
