August Network Call

Please join us Thursday, August 2nd at 10am for a discussion of current state and federal budget information, legislative updates, and administrative actions affecting LGBTQ health and human services in California.

This month we will be hearing from Jennifer Chou, from the ACLU of Southern California. Jennifer will be sharing about how to ensure comprehensive sexual education in our schools and an upcoming advocacy opportunity.

We are carefully watching the federal conversation regarding potential changes to ACA Section 1557, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex. Katie Keith, from Out2Enroll, will be available to share if there are any updates or actions taking place.

The Network will also be introducing our new statewide program to reduce LGBTQ tobacco-related disparities and sharing how you can get involved.

Social Media Toolkit

Do you smoke during stressful times? Americans with mental illnesses have a 70 percent greater
likelihood of smoking than the general population. LGBTQ folks smoke at higher rates than their peers. Our latest Social Media Toolkit offers current statistics on tobacco-related disparities faced by LGBTQ people, as well as links to mental health and tobacco cessation resources.

We provide expertise and training on how to properly engage with LGBTQ communities, preventing and reducing tobacco use among LGBTQ Californians, and addressing tobacco-related health disparities within LGBTQ communities. We also provide assistance to other CTCP-funded projects to reach their goal to eliminate tobacco use by 2035 in California.
