IN CASE YOU MISSED THIS MONTH'S PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE Here it is again.

Greetings Highland Park!

Happy New Year! I hope you all find yourselves safe and well this day. HHPNC is looking forward to all that 2019 has in store for Highland Park and its stakeholders. The board meeting last Thursday focused on a few items, one of which was rescinding support for two alcohol licenses due to various stakeholders expressing concern for the influx of on and off sale applications of liquor licenses in Highland Park. Board Representative Vacancy for LAUSD Board District 5
On March 5, 2019, a special election will be held to elect the next school board representative for Board District 5. LAUSD board members establish policy, processes, and practices that directly impact your school and student(s). LAUSD Board Members also vote on critical decisions around LAUSD’s $7.5 billion budget. This upcoming election will have a real and direct impact on your school community.

The Alliance for a Better Community (ABC) and the United Way of Greater Los Angeles (UWGLA) are working together to uplift the voices of students and parents during the upcoming LAUSD Board District 5 (BD5) school board election, which includes the areas served by your neighborhood council. ABC and UWGLA have developed a survey that will provide a clearer picture of the issues that matter most to Board District 5 families. Data from the survey will then be used to create questions and comments for Board District 5 candidates to respond to during a candidate forum that will be held in the northeast part of Board District 5 on February 13, 2018 in the evening (location TBD).
