Hello and Happy Holidays Highland Park!
It has been an eventful year in the neighborhood, and at the HHPNC. Here is a recap of a few of my favorite parts:
Many of our newer board members have really dialed into their visions and ideas for the community and as a result we formed some new committees:
- Family Youth & Education
- Housing & Homelessness
- Culture & Equality
- Business & Economic Development
- Arts
- Sustainability
We gave out thousands of dollars in Neighborhood Purpose Grants, helping all sorts of arts, theater, youth mentoring, robot-making and a variety of educational programs- just to name a few- bring their value and offerings to the community.
We co-hosted and supported all sorts of events, like the Lummis Day Festival, Halloween Pumpkin Patch, Candidate Forums, and many more.
But my favorite part is knowing that we served as a vital grass roots connection between you and city hall. I always say that an involved and united community is an empowered community. On behalf of the entire HHPNC, I’d like to thank you for giving us the opportunity to be of service. We look forward to making a lot more happen in the new year, together with you and your family. Until then, enjoy your holiday season in whatever meaningful way that you do. And may 2018 bring you all that you wish for.
Peace Always,
Harvey Slater
Your HHPNC President
