President's Message
Happy Wednesday Highland Park Community!!

This is Rocio Rivas, the new President of the Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council! I am honored and elated to extend my service to Highland Park by taking on this new community leadership role! I have been an Angeleno all my life and living in Highland Park for almost 14 years now. Two years ago, I joined HHPNC to be of service to my community and Los Angeles by using my skills, experience, and knowledge in areas in need. Having served as secretary, I have learned a tremendous amount from my interactions with various community stakeholders, Councilmembers Huizar and Cedillo and their respective staff, and city hall staff members. All in all, I have gained community leadership skills that enable me to further my service to Highland Park as President of HHPNC.

Please join me in welcoming FIVE new board members in the positions of Director-at-Large: Mary Pickert, Joe Tarr, Ross Ufberg, Clinton Schaff and Jeffrey Rex. HHPNC is very excited to have the perspectives, motivation and energy that our new members bring to the board. Our neighborhood council cannot exist without the community volunteers that compose the board. My deepest gratitude to all who decided to apply for the positions and joined the endeavor of being at the service of our community and city.  Please visit our website to learn more about the new board members.... Environmental Mural Is Being Restored
A huge mural of classic cars and people at a Highland Park car show, painted in 2004 on a wall facing the parking lot of Pep Boys (now the Auto Zone) on Figueroa St, is being restored by Rich Raya, the artist who first painted it 14 years ago.

Entitled “Used Oil Recycling Mural,” it was commissioned originally with funding by the City of L.A. Sanitation, the L.A. Regional Water Quality Control Board and the local community. Mr. Raya was selected from among 200 artists to paint the mural, which was meant to raise  awareness about the importance of properly disposing used motor oil. Read more about this on the website:
