They Have No Other Place To Go
Gerardo Garcia-Urbina has lived at the same crumbling Highland Park apartment for the past 20 years. The 45-year-old, along with his partner and three kids, put up with all manner of issues with the place. Water is leaking out of the bathroom ceiling, the dishwasher is coming apart from the kitchen counter, and they have cracked and yellowing floors. There are rats nesting by the apartment building’s dumpster.

LA MADE at the Arroyo Seco Public Library: Sept. 8th
The library’s LA Made is a cultural programming series featuring free music, dance, theater, and conversations with local entertainers at libraries throughout the city. In September they will be bringing Paul Stein to perform at our branch. Mr. Stein, a violinist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic for 36 years, will perform selections from Johann Bach’s great unaccompanied Sonatas and Partitas, as well as Antonio Vivaldi’s “Seasons.” Stein will also discuss the childhoods of the two legendary composers and explain how their experiences helped to shape the music they would create.

It will be an excellent afternoon with good music. Join us on September 8 at 3:00 and bring your family and friends.

Let the Policy and Research Committee assist you! We will be presenting a workshop on how to conduct free property records searches at this meeting. This will itself be a kind of workshop for a larger, standalone workshop that will be organizing on this topic in the near future, which will also cover useful paid services. Bring a laptop if you have one to follow along!
