Myth-Busting Inclusion: Dispelling Misconceptions, Embracing Belonging

April is... Autism Awareness & Acceptance Month

In April 2026, we celebrate Autism Awareness & Acceptance Month, with World Autism Day on Thursday, April 2. This year, we move beyond simple awareness to embrace true acceptance—celebrating the unique strengths and perspectives neurodivergent individuals bring to our community. With 2026 data showing autism identification at approximately 1 in 31 children nationally and 1 in 19 in some California regions, early support remains vital for helping every student thrive.

If you have questions about development or need resources, please reach out to your local Regional Center, the Family Focus Resource Center, or visit the Autism Society’s Acceptance Month page for more information and ways to get involved.

Abril es... el Mes de la Concientización y Aceptación del Autismo

En abril de 2026, celebramos el Mes de la Concientización y Aceptación del Autismo, con el Día Mundial del Autismo el jueves 2 de abril. Este año, vamos más allá de la simple concientización para abrazar una verdadera aceptación, celebrando las fortalezas y perspectivas únicas que las personas neurodivergentes aportan a nuestra comunidad. Con datos de 2026 que muestran la identificación del autismo en aproximadamente 1 de cada 31 niños a nivel nacional y 1 de cada 19 en algunas regiones de California, el apoyo temprano sigue siendo vital para ayudar a que cada estudiante prospere.

SELPA ADR Conference 2026

March 19-20

Diana and Victoria joined education leaders from across the state to explore this year’s theme, "Pathways to Partnership." The conference focused on innovative strategies for preventing and resolving conflicts in special education by building stronger, more collaborative relationships between families and school districts.

It was a great opportunity to gain fresh insights into effective communication and navigating the ADR process, all aimed at better supporting students and their communities!

Spring Jubilee

Theresa attended the Spring Jubilee at Stephen Sorensen Park in Lake Los Angeles. Despite the hot and windy weather, it was a festive day of egg hunts, crafts, and food tastings—she even met the Easter Bunny for a quick photo! It was wonderful to see the community celebrating together.

Haddon ES Wellness Resource Fair

Fatima recently attended the Haddon ES Wellness Resource Fair to connect with our local partners and families. The event was a wonderful success, providing the community with vital health resources, free screenings, and practical wellness tips. It was inspiring to see so many neighbors coming together to prioritize their health and well-being.

Tim represented us at the Miller Resource Fair this past Tuesday evening, March 24th. It was a productive night spent connecting with local families and sharing important resources. We always appreciate the opportunity to be part of events that bring the community together to support one another!

SFV Early Start Playdate

Our SFV Early Start Playdate on the 28th was full of sun, bubbles, and great resources! Diana, Shawn, Tessie, and Rebeca enjoyed a fun day with families and our friends from Community Autism Services. It was a perfect warm day for the kids to play and for parents to get the support they need. A big thank you to Community Autism Services for joining us and supporting our families!
