EMPOWER EXPO: Resources for Every Ability

EXPO DE EMPODERAMIENTO: Recursos para Todas las Habilidades

This special event is designed to connect families and individuals with a wide range of inclusive services and supports. We're excited to share that this is FFRC's first time partnering with NLACRC on a resource fair — making this a truly unique event for this year! In addition to a diverse selection of exhibitors, the Empower Expo will feature workshops, a dance for adults with disabilities, and a showcase of micro-enterprises.

Please note, this year there will be NO CHARGE for exhibitor tables and there will be no sponsorships available.

POTENTIAL EXHIBITORS: Exhibitor applications are now being accepted; please apply HERE. To create a meaningful and well-rounded experience for attendees, we are aiming to select a diverse group of organizations that closely aligns with our collective mission. Please note that we may limit participation from agencies offering duplicative services in order to ensure a broad and balanced representation of resources.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis as they are received. All applicants will be notified of their status no later than September 12, 2025.

ATTENDEES: Attendee registration will open later this month, please keep an eye out for information on our social media. Registration is necessary because we will be providing free parking and lunch to our guests!

Este evento especial está diseñado para conectar a familias e individuos con una amplia gama de servicios y apoyos inclusivos. Nos complace compartir que esta es la primera vez que FFRC colaborará con NLACRC en una feria de recursos, ¡lo que lo convierte en un evento verdaderamente único este año! Understanding Signs & Symptoms of ADHD

Empowering & Preparing Parents for their child's IEP

Preparando y Empoderando a los Padres para el IEP de sus Hijos

Esta serie de capacitaciones ayudará a los padres a aprender desde información básica sobre el proceso del IEP hasta estrategias más avanzadas, como los pasos que pueden tomar cuando no están de acuerdo con el IEP de su hijo(a). Los padres participantes recibirán una descarga digital GRATUITA para ayudarles a crear su propio cuaderno de IEP en casa.

Did you know that August is Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Awareness Month?

SMA is a genetic disease affecting the central nervous system, peripheral nervous system, and voluntary muscle movement. SMA is muscular because its primary effect is on muscles, which don’t receive signals from the nerve cells. Atrophy makes the muscles get smaller because they are not being stimulated by nerve cells. Symptoms can be mild to severe, with the primary symptom being weakness of the voluntary muscles. Children with SMA have normal intellectual and emotional development and may have above-average intelligence. To learn more about SMA, visit the Muscular Dystrophy Association website HERE.

La AME es una enfermedad genética que afecta el sistema nervioso central, el sistema nervioso periférico y el movimiento muscular voluntario. NLACRC Generic Resource Fair

This fun event for service coordinators at NLACRC had a Hero theme and featured about 50 organizations. There was a great turnout of staff and it was amazing to meet so many new people. It was an a special afternoon and a effective way for FFRC to connect with both regional center CSC's and community organizations.

SLEA SCV Grand Opening

July 24

We celebrated the launch of SLEA SCV brand-new, 12,000+ sq ft multidisciplinary therapy center offering speech therapy, occupational therapy, behavior services, and educational therapy—all under one roof. We toured the state-of-the-art facility, met the team, and connected with fellow professionals and community members who care deeply about supporting child development in Santa Clarita.

Filipino Support Group

The in-person Filipino Support Group was a very fun day! About 71 people attended. There was plenty of games and activities to do such as bingo and hitting a piñata! Everyone ate lots of great food and connected with other families.
