Preparing Students for Life Beyond School

Join CSUN Professor Samantha Toews, PhD, for a two-part workshop series focused on helping families and educators support students with disabilities as they transition from the classroom to the community.

The first session will explore how families and teachers can
assist students during the K–12 years as they prepare for post-school life.
January 20 at 12:00 pm
The second session will focus on transition planning strategies that
can be helpful during high school and the post-high-school period.

FFRC had a great time participating in the SCV Touch-A-Truck event! Families explored the vehicles, enjoyed hands-on activities, and visited community booths throughout the day. Mayra and Victoria were there sharing resources, answering questions, and connecting with attendees.

CAPTAIN Summit
November 3-4
Diana attended the annual CAPTAIN Summit in Sacramento with our local CAPTAIN cadre, the Super 14. CAPTAIN Super 14 (California Autism Professional Training and Information Network) is made up of representatives from NLACRC, Antelope Valley SELPA, Santa Clarita Valley SELPA, and FFRC. The theme for this years conference was "From Early Steps to Future Success: Navigating Transitions." To learn more about CAPTAIN, visit https://www.captain.ca.gov/

Theresa had the pleasure of meeting Supervisor Kathryn Barger at the SCV Compassion Network event! She shared information about FFRC and some concerns from the families we serve. Supervisor Barger represents the 5th Supervisorial District of Los Angeles County, which includes our service areas: Antelope Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, and San Fernando Valley.

FFRC had a wonderful time participating in the Community Baby Shower and Resource Fair in Panorama City! Shawn and Rebeca tabled at the event, connecting with families, sharing helpful resources, and celebrating this joyful milestone with parents-to-be. The event brought together community partners, lively activities, and plenty of excitement as families explored supportive services available in the area.
