From the President ...

This week, the delicious smell of baking hamantashen filled Bnai Israel. It reminded me that Purim is right around the corner. It’s next week, so get your costume ready!
But, tomorrow evening, Friday at 6pm, please join us to welcome Shabbat and for a short Board installation service. You will get a chance to see some of the hardworking team that keeps Bnai Israel in good shape, figuratively and literally!
We will also take this opportunity to say a very big “Thank you” and recognize the accomplishments of those Board members who finished their terms at the end of 2020.
It might surprise you just how much time and energy Board members and Officers put in on a regular basis. They ensure that our building is safe, secure and in good repair; the cemetery is maintained; that Shabbat services, programs and other events are planned and take place; the newsletter is produced; and that we are financially solvent.
Of course, our wonderful Rabbi and staff work extremely hard, and numerous volunteers not only bake hamantashen but do many other tasks that help to make Bnai Israel a community full of life and love.
We will be highlighting some of them during the next few months but hope you will take a few minutes tomorrow evening when we recognize our Board members.
Stay Safe and Shabbat Shalom,
We are seeking Bnai Israel members, both men and women, to join our Chevra Kadisha and participate in Taharah, sit as Shomrim, or both. We are happy to answer any questions you might have about being part of this mitzvah. Contact Rabbi Bender, Steve Stein or Terry Jensen if you want to learn more. Also, consider watching the following program on Sunday, February 21st, from 2-3:30pm.

Purim Party 5781!!
Round the Zoom Campfire
 Thursday, February 25th

Come join us ‘round the Zoom campfire for a good, ol’ fashioned Americana-themed Purim, featuring parody songs to tunes you know and love. Tune in for a fun and interactive virtual Purim experience! Stay for some or all of the event. Don’t forget to dress in costume and bring something to the computer screen to make some noise!

While we won't be able to hear the Megillah in person with an open bar, we hope that this list of Purim Cocktails/Mocktails will add some extra joy to your holiday.
