BLACK HISTORY MONTH
Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month.
  • Make sure to check out our Black & African American support group this month (2/2/2022 at 6:30 pm) as we have author Donna Ross-Jones as our guest speaker discussing her book, "Autism Day by Day".

FEBRUARY 28TH IS:
RARE DISEASE DAY
Rare Disease Day is the globally-coordinated movement on rare diseases, working towards equity in social opportunity, healthcare, and access to diagnosis and therapies for people living with a rare disease. A disease is considered rare when it affects fewer than 1 in 12,000 people.
Since its creation in 2008, Rare Disease Day has played a critical part in building an international rare disease community that is multi-disease, global, and diverse– but united in purpose.

El Día de las Enfermedades Raras es el movimiento coordinado a nivel mundial sobre enfermedades raras, que trabaja por la equidad en las oportunidades sociales, la atención médica y el acceso a diagnósticos y terapias para las personas que viven con una enfermedad rara. Una enfermedad se considera rara cuando afecta a menos de 1 de cada 12.000 personas.
Desde su creación en 2008, el Día de las Enfermedades Raras ha jugado un papel fundamental en la construcción de una comunidad internacional de enfermedades raras que es multienfermedad, global y diversa, pero unida en un propósito.

SUPPLEMENTAL SECURITY INCOME (SSI)
Friday, February 4th, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm

Start the new year with this helpful workshop presented by Disability Rights of California. Senior attorney Maria Iriarte, and Senior advocate Mary Rios will begin this important series as they help us learn about Supplemental Security Income (SSI). Join us for six more workshops concluding in June.
These workshops will be presented in English.

VALENTINE'S FUN PLAYDATE
Saturday, February 5th, 10:30 am

Join Inclusion Matters at this fun and free playdate in the park sponsored by Universal Studios Hollywood! There will be arts and crafts, temporary tattoos, snacks, and lots of play at Rocket's Universe inclusive playground.
We will be there giving away free children's facemasks while they last.
RSVP is required and the event will be in North Hollywood.

THE DATING SPECTRUM AT THE ED ASNER FAMILY CENTER

Register for this 8-wk session for classes to help the special needs community navigate the dating world. Presented by Chrisa Sadd, LMFT, and autism self-advocate Tom Iland. Topics will include relationships, communication, sex, boundaries, social media, internet dating, and skills for breaking up and letting go.
