Better Before Bigger - an Invitation to Prayer and a Call to Action
by Marc Crawford, HCS Chairman
The buzz in the Del Cerro Baptist Church fellowship hall from Tuesday, January 16 still resonates deeply within me. As we unveiled Heritage Christian School's ambitious 5-year plan, "Better Before Bigger," at the annual State of the School meeting, I witnessed a wave of excitement and unity that I have not seen in a long time. This plan provides a roadmap for strengthening our HCS community of families and your positive response has not only been comforting but also fundamental in shaping the future of our beloved school.
"Better Before Bigger" is not just an ambitious roadmap; it reinforces the values that define us. It is a commitment to nurturing the spiritual roots of our children before we expand their branches.

Conference Speaker & Session Spotlight | |
Allison Wardrip is a native Californian and has been married to her husband, Noah, for 20 years. They have two daughters, ages 14 and 10, and they are currently in their 8th year of homeschooling (always through Heritage!). Allison absolutely loves coffee, loves to read and discuss books, and loves worship music and hymns.
In recent years, she has been attending Bible classes and building her skills in Theology, Biblical Worldview, and Apologetics. As a result, she has developed a passion to educate herself and her children in these areas. Allison also uses her time to volunteer with various Jesus-loving organizations such as the Center for Biblical Unity, Unity4Orphans, and American Heritage Girls.

Discipleship and Teaching a Biblical Worldview
As homeschooling parents, we recognize the value of teaching our children. Not only do we want to educate our children in the academic subjects, but we also understand that our primary focus should be to disciple our children to have a Biblical worldview. What does it mean to allow the Bible to inform every encounter in day-to-day life and how do we develop this perspective?
In this session, we will address these important areas:
What exactly is a Biblical worldview?
Why is having a solid Biblical worldview important for myself and my children?
How do I incorporate this into my homeschooling and daily life?
What are some resources to help teach a Biblical worldview to my children?
We all recognize that the world around us is volatile and dark (without Christ!), but as Christian parents, we need not lose hope! We don’t need to be afraid to stand for Truth; however, we must be equipped and proactive to disciple our children (and ourselves!) effectively to navigate daily life. With a solid Biblical worldview, we can be confident that God’s Word provides the wisdom and guidance we need for every day! Let’s journey together to understand and implement a Biblical worldview within our families and homeschool!

CAL GRANT
- Cal Grants are monetary awards for students meeting certain academic and financial requirements. They can be used for any UC, CSU, private college, community college, and most vocational schools in California. They are not paid back.
- To receive a Cal Grant, a student must file an FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form and a GPA Verification form to determine eligibility no later than the March deadline of the student’s senior year.
IMPORTANT NOTE: HCS cannot fill out the GPA Verification form required for a CAL Grant because we are not accredited. The California Student Aid Commission has made a provision for home-schooled students who attend a non-accredited high school. GED, SAT, or ACT test scores will be accepted in place of the GPA Verification form.
To submit test scores, complete the "To be filled out by student" section of the GPA Verification form. Mark the bubble for Question 7 "Test Scores" and attach a copy of your ACT/SAT or GED scores to the form. Send the form with a copy of test scores to the Student Aid Commission no later than the March deadline. For more information, go to the California Student Aid Commission’s website. www.csac.ca.gov
Take Note that many colleges do not require the SAT or ACT for acceptance, however, these tests are still used to award the CAL GRANT.
