Summer time in the Church of God is always an exciting season. We have multiple opportunities to get together for worship, preaching, training, and fellowship.

This summer is no exception. June 17-20 Hawaii will host Camp Meeting ’24. The following week June 24-28, students from multiple islands will gather for Youth Camp with the theme “Rattle”. Finally, we head to Indianapolis in the mainland for the biennial Church of God International General Assembly July 8-12.

Each of these gathering offers much and has the potential to change many people's lives. I invite you to do a couple vitally important things. First, make plans to attend each of these gatherings. I understand how much of a sacrifice this can be, but I also know the sacrifice is worth it as God will meet you at each one. Second, please join with me and pray for each gathering. We need God’s presence, touch, and direction as we gather for all three events. Your prayers and participation will make such a difference for both time and eternity.

Candie and I love you and continue to be thrilled for the opportunity to serve you here in Hawaii. Please know we are praying for you, and are available to you.

Blessings,

Bishop J. Rob Taylor

Matthew 4:18-22 – Jesus Calls the First Disciples

The early followers of Jesus of Jesus weren’t really referred to as much as Christians. Rather, they were referred to as Disciples.

Did you know the word Christian is used three times in the whole Bible, whereas the word disciple is used 281 times?

Jesus called His Disciples, and they answered the call.

Just like when the phone rings, we must make a choice to answer it or not, we must choose to answer the call of God.

Here you have Jesus calling the fishermen to follow Him.First, we must hear the call.

Facts about Ears:

Fish do not have ears, but they can hear pressure changes through ridges on their body.

Of the 206 bones in the human body, the six smallest are in your ears: three in the right and three in the left. Together, each three are about the size of a pencil eraser.

The ear continues to hear sounds, even while you sleep.

My wife says I have two faults. I don’t listen...and something else.

Sound travels at the speed of 1,130 feet per second, or 770 miles per hour.

Dogs can hear much higher frequencies than humans.

Ears not only help you hear, but also aid in balance.

Male mosquitoes hear with thousands of tiny hairs growing on their antennae, my new prayer, let the male mosquitoes go bald.

I found this very interesting, Ears are completely individual just like fingerprints! Yahoo has even explored technology that could unlock a cell phone when held to the ear.

Maybe when God created us with ear prints because God speaks to us differently.

Hearing is important for a number of reasons

a. Hearing is Essential to Salvation

b. Hearing is Necessary for Obedience

c. Hearing is Foundational for Hope

Hearing is so important that 16 times from the book of Matthew through the book of Revelation we hear the words, “let him hear.” Why? Because

HEARING IS ESSENTIAL TO SALVATION.

Something to think on, when we call on God, we expect Him to answer right away, the question is, when He calls on us, do we answer right away? Do we complain? Do we shift?

Please be in prayer for the Hawaii Youth And Discipleship Department as Got Talent and Youth Camp are quickly approaching.

Hawaii CoG Mission's Blitz Projects Continue

Ewa Beach

Ewa beach property overhaul and update is well underway. Newtown has partnered with Missions Blitz money to begin a relaunch of new ministry in the soon-to-be-refurbished building. This is with cooperation of the two ministries that already use the building for their worship services. One, and possibly both, of those ministries are working toward becoming a part of the Church of God. This month will see new plumbing and new concrete work.

May brought with it torrential rains and island wide flooding. Once again, Jesus is alive fellowship found the property flooded with no where to evacuate the water being pumped out from under the church. Missions Blitz money was available to purchase a large dehumidifier to dry the interior of the building. As the flood water receeded, Pastor Andres began the process of pumping the water to toward the river to remove the water under the building.

Pastor June continues to work with Church of God Men and Women of Action to get the sewer situation mended. Missions Blitz money has partnered with the Hilo Church to begin the work as soon as the team can get on Island.

June 2, 2024 Bishop and Candie took a check to Hilo to begin the work of termite extermination on both the church and parsonage.

Sixteen thousand dollars has been raised to put in the new floor in Molokai. We are awaiting the date for the crew to come and help with the project.
