June 2025

Hawaii Church of God Camp Meeting is a special time of gathering for worship, training, and fellowship. It is like a statewide family reunion. Candie and I can’t wait to see you at the Filipino Community Center in Waipahu on Monday the 16th – Thursday the 19th. We have prayed and prepared, so we are expecting a significant time of ministry.

Our evening services feature the ministry of Dr. Tony Stewart (Assistant General Overseer), Les Higgins (International Ministry of Evangelism), and Blake Shuler (Evangelist). Their messages will challenge, encourage, instruct, and inspire each of us. Each 11:00 AM service will feature Dr. Steve Hall from the Paul L. Walker Center for Pentecostal Preaching at Lee University. He will minister to us regarding ministerial soul care. At our 9:30 AM services we will hear from one of our young up-and-coming ministers, Syrahlyn Vergara, and one of our well loved and respected spiritual fathers, Ino Bocobo.

Often Camp Meeting is an oasis in the middle of the desert of ministry. There are times when preaching multiple messages weekly, praying from a burdened pastoral heart, and serving the people / communities to which we are called leaves us drained of energy, strained to our limit, and broken. Camp Meeting offers a time of refreshing, strengthening, healing, and connection. We tell our stories, share our hearts, and once again realize we are not in this thing called ministry alone. We pray together, cry together, and bear one another’s burdens. One of the enemy’s primary weapons against us is isolation. Camp Meeting combats the enemy by reminding us of our unity as brothers and sisters in Christ. I urge you to do whatever it takes to attend each Camp Meeting service. You will be glad you did. See you in a few days.

Blessings,

YWEA

Youth World Evangelism Action is a means of helping our students get involved in giving to World Missions. Each year Church of God students from all over the world work together to impact a specific project. Hawaii has a rich heritage in YWEA. Our Ministry Center was a YWEA Project in the 1070's. We have also given a significant amount of money over the passed 50+ years of YWEA. This year focuses on Grace for Greece and provides an opportunity for oour students to make a real difference.

Aloha from the Hawaii Youth & Discipleship Department

We are still rejoicing! We set a goal to raise $21,000 for youth camp, and with your help—and the grace of God—we reached it!

Every dollar raised is more than just a number; it’s a seed sown into the lives of students who will encounter Jesus this summer in a real and powerful way. Thank you for believing in the next generation.

YOUTH CAMP IS ALMOST HERE!

We are just weeks away from Hawaii Youth Camp 2025: The Fellowship of the Redeemed—and we can’t wait to see what God is going to do!

We’re asking every church and every believer to:

PRAY for every camper, every leader, every service, and every moment.

ENCOURAGE students and families to register and be a part of something

life-changing.

SIGN UP – Online registration for both campers and workers is now open!

Help us spread the word—youth camp isn’t just an event… it’s a divine appointment!

WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT – Luke 1:37, “For nothing will be impossible with God.”

If you’re standing in front of something that feels overwhelming—take heart. The same God who fulfilled His word to Mary is the same God walking with you today.

This is your reminder: He still does the impossible.

He still opens doors no one can shut.

He still makes a way where there seems to be no way.

Whatever you’re facing in your home, your ministry, or your personal life—don’t lose faith. Keep showing up, keep believing, and keep trusting the God who specializes in the impossible.

With Aloha and Gratitude,

Brian Whitelock

Youth & Discipleship Director

What’s Coming Next

We’re not slowing down! Aother major project is now on deck:

Remodeling in Wailuku

Starting the second week of July, we’ll begin remodeling the Wailuku building that will become the future home of The Bride Church of God, led by Pastor Jason and Jerlyn Albino. We are excited to see this vision come to life and believe this church will be a light in the heart of the community.

We are so thankful for your partnership, prayers, and continued support. Together, we are reaching the lost, rebuilding what was broken, and expanding the Kingdom of God across Hawaii.

Resourcing the local church and ministers

Tent Purchased for Multiple Ministry Use

Annually, the Hawaii Church of God Youth Department had been saddled with the cost of renting a large tent to be used as a worship center for the service and multipurpose area. It had come to our attention that two year’s rental of the tent would cover the cost of purchasing the tent outright. The double benefit, is that the structure could be used to provide additional space for the ministry center. Thereby, making state gatherings more comfortable by providing more space. The dual purpose of the tent only made sense. The youth department raised half the budget for the purchase and the state office raised the remaining, as an investment in the youth department and ministers of the state. Now, instead of the rental fee being an investment in a company, the investment will continue to provide worship space for youth camp for many years to come and expanded space for ministry gatherings. We look forward to celebrating with our students and with you in this new addition.

Hawa

Hawaii Church of God Church Planters Represent at WEGATHER Texas--We went East to Go West.

Eight people took a 10 hour flight to battle the 5 hour time difference To gather with nearly 400 pastors at the first WE GATHER event of the year. We had the time to hear form incredible ministry leaders and pastors. We participated in a live taping of a pod cast. We made great relationships and were encouraged to see life long friends. We were blessed to make a few memories of our own, too.

Fire Within Training Conference

Our first-ever Fire Within Training Conference was a huge success. It was a full day of leadership training, breakout sessions, great food, and an unforgettable youth camp rally. Special thanks to Bishop Caleb & Hanah Jo Crooms for pouring into our leaders and igniting the flame of revival in our hearts.

To every youth and children’s leader who showed up—we see you, and we’re so grateful for you! Let’s keep that fire burning!

COMMUNITY SERVICE CHAPLAINS TAKE HOPE BEYOND CHURCH WALLS

Around the world, Community Service Chaplains (CSC’s) are answering the call to bring the hope of the gospel beyond the walls of the local church. The Church of God Chaplains Commission not only endorses ordained ministers for vocational chaplaincy, but also certifies both clergy and laypeople to represent their local church as volunteer Community Service Chaplains.

The CSC program offers practical, Spirit-led training that equips and empowers individuals for ministry in everyday settings. Participants gain tools to support personal growth, family care, and community outreach. Topics include serving in a pluralistic environment, ministry of presence, grief, death notification, prayer in public spaces, moral injury, crisis care, and a host of other topics relevant to community ministry.

Serving Each Other, Our Communities, Hawaii & Our World

This group of people is nothing short of amazing. When a need arises, they show up—ready to work, ready to serve, and ready to build the Kingdom.

They tackled the tough job of clearing the lower parking lot to create more space for the Rise For Lahaina Worship Experience. It wasn’t easy—there was plenty of sweat and hard labor—but their commitment made a huge difference for everyone who attended.

Rise for Lahaina – Mission Accomplished!

Big shoutout to everyone who helped make Rise for Lahaina a powerful success!

Because of your generosity, support, and prayer—we reached our $50,000 goal!

It was a night filled with worship, fellowship, ono food, and most of all—the undeniable presence of God. Lives were touched, hearts were stirred, and hope was restored.

We want to give a heartfelt thank you to every single person who helped make it happen—those who planned, prayed, served, gave, sang, led, cooked, cleaned, greeted, guarded, and supported in any way. Whether you were front and center or behind the scenes, your role mattered

Together, we created something beautiful for the Lord and for Lahaina—and we’re just getting started.

Men and Women of Action Partnership for Youth Camp

The four images above are the after photos. Great job team!

The Evangelism Department partnered with the Hawaii Youth & Discipleship Department to complete a major project at our youth camp facility.

Together, we installed two new bathrooms—each with two showers, two toilets, and two sinks—plus an additional bathroom in the cafeteria. This project paves the way for smoother operations at youth camp for years to come, and it’s a testament to what happens when departments unite for a common cause.

Now our kitchen workers will have access to restroom facilities without the treacherous mountainous walk. This improvement also serves the camp services for others who rent the facilities. Our partnership proves to the community at large, that Hawaii Church of God cares for Hawaii.

The Revs. Holland to Lead Hawaii Church of God Prayer Force

Through miraculous partnership, Revs. Joel and Ryan Holland continue to build on the foundation of the Maranatha Church of God on Kauai. Their heart for God and people shines bright. This makes their appointment to lead the HI prayer initiative exciting. Look for news and opportunities to engage in prayer in the coming days.

We are asking each church to forward to the State Office the name and contact information of an individual to join the prayer ministry team as a representative from the local church. God still answers prayer.
