January is.... National Braille Literacy Month

This month we recognize the legally blind and visually impaired for National Braille Literacy Month. The observance raises awareness of the importance of Braille to the blind and visually impaired community. As audio technology progresses, the use of Braille dwindles. However, its significance remains, especially in the workplace and the classroom. The month offers the opportunity to learn about and appreciate Braille. To read some fun facts about Braille, visit HERE. Another great resource is The Braille Institute, which provides free services and support for people of all ages experiencing vision loss. Life After HS Event

December 4

Lowman CTC's "Life After High School" event brought dozens of vendors and service providers to Lowman to assist families there and beyond. These providers offered information about vocational support and guidance, services related to behavioral health, the arts and music, daily living skills and transportation... just about everything one might need to consider in preparation for completing their time in school. Attendance was high, and there was a great deal of interest expressed by many parents in connection with our services.

Sensitive Santa

December 7, 8, & 15

Family Focus Resource Center held its annual Sensitive Santa holiday events at three locations in SFV, Santa Clarita, and Antelope Valley. The turnouts were amazing! Families enjoyed pizza, face-painting, therapy dogs, arts and crafts, and pictures with Santa!
