First Semester Ends January 25th

Grades Due February 9th

How To Enter Grades

The Student Information System (SIS) grade page is linked with the Course of Study page that you entered back at the beginning of the year. When you login to SIS to enter your students' grades, all the classes that you entered in your Course of Study will be waiting for you in the grading system. All you need to do is enter the grades for those classes. If you have changed or added a class since you entered your Course of Study – no worries. On the far right, select “Delete” or “Add Subject” appropriately. Then follow through with the subject, course and grade. When you have completed entering your student's grades, don't forget to click SAVE.

The Course of Study is required by California law for each of our students. If you didn’t do your Course of Study at the beginning of the year, you are being billed for a late fee. To avoid this late fee, select “Course of Study” on the top of the page, choose your student and enter their Course of Study.

For step by step instructions on how to enter grades, click HERE.

The office will hold a grades entering party on February 8th. If you need assistance entering grades, please stop by the office between 10am and 3pm, no appointment required.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You will be unable to register for 2023-2024 classes on April 14th until Course of Study and 1st-semester grades have been entered.

Museum of Making Music Field Trip

February 21, 2023

Grades 2nd - 5th Only

Field Trip Minimum: 10 Students

Music! You’ll hear a lot of it during your visit. From the marches and rags of the early 1900s, through the evolutionary sounds of jazz, folk, rock ‘n roll and pop, to the cross cultural expressions of today’s connected world.

It’s the soundtrack of our lives, and it’s also part of a much larger story… the story of how an industry—the music products industry—supplies the world with the instruments, products and gear that we all use to make music.

Your Used Glasses Can Make a Difference!

Hello, Mustangs! The HCS Honors Society is collecting glasses in a joint effort with Lions Club International to make eyeglasses available to the millions of Americans who lack access to them! Since frames are often the most expensive part of an eyeglass, the Lions Club will be taking the frames from all donated glasses to use with new lenses. Donations include prescription glasses, reading glasses, and even sunglasses.

Bring your old glasses to a drop box at the class day near you! Information regarding the placement of the drop box will be found in your coordinator's newsletter.

CAL Grant Information

  • Cal Grants are monetary awards for students meeting certain academic and financial requirements. They can be used for any UC, CSU, private college, community college and most vocational schools in California. They are not paid back.

  • To receive a Cal Grant, a student must file an FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form and a GPA Verification form to determine eligibility no later than the March deadline of the student’s senior year.

IMPORTANT NOTE: HCS cannot fill out the GPA Verification form required for a CAL Grant because we are not accredited. The California Student Aid Commission has made a provision for home-schooled students who attend a non-accredited high school. GED, SAT, or ACT test scores will be accepted in place of the GPA Verification form.

To submit test scores, complete the "To be filled out by student" section of the GPA Verification form. Mark the bubble for Question 7 "Test Scores" and attach a copy of your ACT/SAT or GED scores to the form. Send the form with a copy of test scores to the Student Aid Commission no later than the March deadline. For more information, go to the California Student Aid Commission’s website. www.csac.ca.gov.

The SAT is more than just a test. It's a tool that helps open doors to opportunity.

Register today, complete one free Timed Mini Section or Diagnostic Quiz on Official SAT Practice on Khan Academy®, and earn entries into drawings for $500 and $40,000 BigFuture Scholarships.

If you're a fee waiver–eligible student, there's no late registration fee.
