ROOTED IN THE WORD

This week's devotional from the heart of Sister Bridget

IS IT WORTH IT?

Vacation Bible School is wrapping up at First Baptist Church this week. As a body, we have put countless hours into preparing for the upheaval of children entering our church’s doors. And honestly, it is tiring. Sometimes we may ask if the time and effort spent creating decorations, making schedules, detailing menus, grocery shopping, organizing, cutting, gluing, studying, planning, etc., etc., etc…. we may ask if it is all worth it?

The Bible encourages that as we share His Word it will do the work of carrying out His purposes.

Isaiah 55:11: so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Scripture also instructs us to allow the children to come to Him. It is like children that we must become in spirit to be with Him.

Luke 18:16: But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

And His Word teaches that whatever we do (teach the Bible lesson or drive the bus), we do it to bring glory to God.

1 Corinthians 10:31: So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

So to answer our question concerning the worth of Vacation Bible school...

This week at FBCR

...we had more children on our lowest day than the highest number in past years (ever)! The opportunity for more SEEDS to be planted!

...one child was videoed having a conversation with his grandmother. He asked her, “Can I just live at VBS?” to which his brother joined in, “Yeah! I want to do that, too!”

...we’ve watched volunteers blossom into leaders and adults form new relationships with their siblings in Christ.

...we celebrate 4 salvations!

The resounding answer to is VBS worth it?

Y-E-S! YES!
